An American nurse and her child kidnapped in Haiti nearly two weeks ago have been freed, according to the Christian charity she worked for.
El Roi Haiti confirmed “the safe release of our staff member and friend, Alix Dorsainvil” and her young daughter, who has not been named.
Hours after the kidnapping, the US State Department ordered non-emergency government personnel and the family members of embassy officials to leave Haiti.
Originally from the state of New Hampshire, Ms Dorsainvil first visited Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and has worked as a school and community nurse since 2020.
The organisation described her in an earlier statement as “a deeply compassionate and loving person who considers Haiti her home and the Haitian people her friends and family”.
“She had lived in Haiti for multiple years, showing love and care in a variety of ways before coming on staff with us, but has had a heart for the hurting since she was a child,” it added.
The US special counsel investigating Donald Trump obtained a secret search warrant for the ex-president’s Twitter data in January, unsealed records show.
According to the unsealed ruling, which still includes some redactions, Twitter’s lawyers did not object to the warrant itself, but disputed the nondisclosure order which kept it secret.
The company, now known as X under the ownership of Elon Musk, argued that it should be allowed to notify customers whose accounts are subject to search warrants.
The US congressional panel investigating the 6 January 2021 Capitol riot found that Mr Trump had drafted - but never sent - a tweet urging his supporters to come to Washington.
Mr Trump responded to news of the search warrant on Truth Social, writing that it was a "major ‘hit’ on my civil rights…
He has been charged in the two investigations led by Mr Smith, one surrounding events following the 2020 election and the other relating to the handling of classified documents.
I am a volunteer organizing holidays for people with disabilities (3 timesaver year) and this is one of my biggest fears. Every start of a holiday we discuss what to do in case of emergency but I hope that I will never need it…
Oh shit yeah! That kid totally learned from his parent that violence was a solution to emotional issues. That kid is fucked for life (which is highly likely to be incredibly short) if at age six they already associate lethal violence as an appropriate solution for dealing with emotions.
That kid will learn the lesson of fuck around and find out in a life-altering/ending way soon enough. If it's starting at age six, educating that out of him is going to be a near 90° uphill battle. And that parent squarely put that mentality into him.
… I’m not sure “90°” means what you think it means… 😅😶
edit: Apologies, I’d assumed it was a compound phrase and not a janky one — as in, “opposite direction and also uphill” (therefore, 180°) rather than “describing a vertical surface as an incline”. My bad. 🤷🏼♂️
It’s a public school so payout will come from the taxpayers and not the budget for school. And the issue is not that they couldn’t prevent it, she reported the aggresive behaviour earlier in the day before being shot, but was ignored.
If I remember correctly about this incident, it wasn't only that the school was warned about the child's behavior from previous incidents and from earlier that day and it had been ignored, as you have already received a comment about, but I believe the mother also called the school to tell them her gun was missing and she believed the child had it and they didn't do a thorough enough search for it - I believe they only looked in his backpack and not in his desk or jacket, etc.
Sounds like (purely speculation, since the details aren’t available) he pulled a gun on or otherwise threatened the agents coming to arrest him, based on his other behavior. Told them to come back with a warrant, they did so, and he took issue?
Either way, posting on the internet about assassinating government officials, regardless of whether it’s serious or not, was probably not the smartest opening move.
He was posting over and over on how he’d kill the prez, the veep, and Alvin Bragg for months. The one that finally did him in was talking about sniping Diamond Joe. They paid him a visit, and he got squirrelly on 'em.
Thats just the official story. What actually happened was that dark biden’s Cyber-Brain picked up the threat, so he used his lazer vision while at a rally in New Mexico to vaporize him.
The media is totally censoring the thousand mile long lazer beam the president shot out of his eyes. They have the footage, but they are too afraid to tell the truth, because then the Clinton Mutant Teenage Turtles will kill them.
Yes the same guys who rant about government tyranny yet defend police (government employees/enforcers) at every opportunity love to also rant about the rule of law unless those rules are applied to them or their current flavor of the week messiah.
The guy openly posted that the FBI wouldn’t dare raid him because they’d get a 45 ACP in the face. I’m no law enforcement apologist but that kind of boast can put people on edge. Specific threats of violence should never be acceptable.
It’s worth pointing out that the victim probably isn’t in social circles where the government killing people for no reason all the time gets much attention. Hyperreality is a serious thing, the guy’s worldview probably makes it seem like free speech exists, unless it’s a bad slur on facebook dot commie.
Hopefully they managed to get in there before Trump and his cronies deleted a bunch of DMs that could be used as evidence. I don't trust Elon musk not to tell Trump that the FBI are seeking access.
I’ve seen in other articles that Twitter was forbidden from telling trump and they actually got fined because they were late trying providing the info because they wanted to notify trump.
