filister , to world in Al Jazeera bureau chief's son Hamza al-Dahdouh among journalists killed in Gaza

Hamza al-Dahdouh had one million followers on Instagram.

For everyone who thinks that this might be just an accident. I don’t think so. They are deliberately targeting journalists who are critical to them.

Silverseren , to world in Al Jazeera bureau chief's son Hamza al-Dahdouh among journalists killed in Gaza

And this was a drone strike, meaning it was targeted and controlled on what was being hit.

So the bullshit from the IDF at the end of the article is just that, bullshit.

autotldr Bot , to world in Al Jazeera bureau chief's son Hamza al-Dahdouh among journalists killed in Gaza

This is the best summary I could come up with:

His wife Amna, his grandchild Adam, his 15-year-old son Mahmoud and seven-year-old daughter Sham all died in an Israeli strike.

According to Hisham Zaqout, an Al Jazeera correspondent, Hamza and a group of journalists were en route to the Moraj area northeast of Rafah - which was designated a “humanitarian zone” by the Israeli army - but which had reportedly experienced recent bombings.

It also showed his father Wael al-Dahdouh in tears, holding his hand and standing next to his body in a morgue in Khan Younis.

Wael al-Dahdouh was himself wounded and his cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa was killed in a separate strike while filming last month.

“Al Jazeera Media Network strongly condemns the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of Palestinian journalists’ car,” the company said in a statement, accusing Israel of “violating the principles of freedom of the press”.

Mark Regev, a senior adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told the BBC’s World This Weekend that “Israel does not deliberately target journalists”.

Israel’s lies …

Mark Regev, a senior adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told the BBC’s World This Weekend that “Israel does not deliberately target journalists”.

“We’re the only country in the Middle East that actually does have a free press. We’re the only country in the entire region where the press can write bad things and criticise the leaders of government,” he said.

“To say Israel deliberately targets the press is ridiculous, we’re the only country that actually enshrines the free press.”

trackcharlie , to news in Young Britons exposed to online radicalisation following Hamas attack

This is what happens in any major conflict when people aren’t provided the means to critically think about the things they find online.

This is a problem of education not just biased reporting and misinformation.

Guaranteed there’s not a single person ‘radicalized’ that has even a remote understanding of the history of the area and the conflicts therein

Best quote from the article …

We in the media were unprepared for anyone who lied as effectively and shamelessly as Donald Trump. Jonathan Greenberg, former Forbes researcher

Took me a while to see what the article means by "radicalization" because these days radicalism can mean anything between far right antisemitism and the smallest critique on Israel.

Can't even trust the wording of BBC anymore when it comes to this.

Hmmm. Who do we know that has a history of targeting funerals, weddings, and other social gatherings like this in this region?

autotldr Bot , to worldnews in At least 103 dead in bomb blasts near Iran general Qasem Soleimani's tomb

This is the best summary I could come up with:

At least 103 people have been killed by two bomb explosions near the tomb of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his assassination by the US, Iran’s state media report.

But Arab separatists, Islamic State (IS) and other Sunni jihadist groups have said they have carried out deadly attacks on security forces and Shia shrines in the country in recent years.

Wednesday’s incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region after the deputy leader of the Iran-backed Palestinian group, Hamas, was killed in an apparent Israeli drone strike in Lebanon.

Footage broadcast by state TV showed hundreds of people had gathered on the eastern outskirts of the general’s hometown of Kerman when the two explosions took place.

The hard-line Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, cited sources as saying that “two bags carrying bombs” were apparently detonated “by remote control”.

He was in charge of the Quds Force’s clandestine missions and its provision of guidance, funding, weapons, intelligence, and logistical support to allied governments and armed groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah.
