God, I remembered Asian hate. I remembered getting yelled at in Chinatown by a bunch of black people. Yo, we are sorta on the same team man. I didn’t create covid. I’m just here trying to survive, just like you.
See they’re barking up the wrong tree with gays and trans. No middle class conservative white family ever had their kid sit them down and say “mom, dad, I’m black”
Discovery was IMHO the most inferior Star Trek, but they nailed this idea when they described the Terran empire. This strong, incontrovertibly evil, imperial monster was born of, and lives on fear. A version of humanity that gave up on trust or hope and became the worst version of themselves.
I felt it was leaning too hard into the grimdark and action for my liking. But that’s just my opinion, and there’s lots of room for taste. My husband’s favorite is Voyager and I think that one is less well regarded so to each thier own.
And of things normal people can’t associate with being scary. I think that’s why everyone’s struggling to guess what’s next. What random thing will strike fear into them next? Birds? Greeks? Furniture that isn’t wood? Children’s book- oh, we had that one.
There’s a kind of always a constant undercurrent of hatred for the lower class with them. I wonder how far the GOP can push that before their voters realize they’re the butt of the joke.
When I lived in a very small apartment in a very large city, I quickly learned to clean as I cook. A few dishes can take up all the counter space when there’s so little to begin with. Since then I’ve moved to a smaller city and a larger place but I’ve taken that habit with me. Now when I’m done cooking I only have a few dishes left and a sink of hot water to wash them in. Took some planing and a few mistakes to figure out how but I think it is a skill I should hold on to.
Still trying to get this discipline down. Seems like all it takes is one or two bad days and then it’s fully off the rails again. Keep trying to avoid letting a 10 minute job turn into a 30 minute job. Pretty sure I stretch myself too thin between work and being pretty active in my socials and hobbies.
Never feels like I have enough time to maintain a tidy home.
I interpret it in a broader sense. Recently I tried to test a mechanical keyboard to see if I would like it. The small local shop did not have any (understandably), so I went to MediaMarkt and they didn’t have any either. It seems that since everyone is ordering stuff online, the physical shops only have stock for very generic stuff.
So… the convenience that everyone was demanding (being able to order anything) is now mandatory for me.
Of course, it’s just first world problems in my case.
Most of the small local shops have been closed down by a combination of big box stores and Amazon anyway, so in a lot of places, your only options are the evil megacorp you have to drive to or the other evil megacorp that’s convenient.
