(watching DS9's "Distant Voices")

Good evening!

This episode reminds me of the "Is the crew member imagining things?"" sub-genre of story. A couple of examples are ENT's "Vanishing Point" with Hoshi and "Doctor's Orders" with Phlox.

VOY also had a similar episode with Seven.

TNG's Remember Me is another great example of this genre, except this one is told from the perspective of the person imagining things.

It’s kind of cool the future finally caught up to us in 2024 and now we will see the Bell Riots and this episode as the past.

Keep in mind that the Star Trek timeline includes a very destructive and bloody World War 3, so as much I would like Galaxy-class starships, I would like to avoid that part.

Tonight's fun fact: The prison administrator in this episode, Rinn, was played by Margot Rose. She was a guest star in one other Trek episode - she was Eline, the wife of Kamen/Picard in the classic TNG episode, "The Inner Light".

START TREK sounds like an ill-conveived government fitness marketting program from the 90s.
