sorry but that’s not a fair analysis of the data put forward by ACLED here. they are counting demonstrations not demonstrators. and they are most certainly not couning charges so no clue where you got that.

here are some similar, though admittedly not directly parallel, statistics (published jan 2022):

  • 6.8% of pro-Trump demonstrations (112 of 1,646) between January 2020 and November 2021 were armed compared to 1.5% of all other demonstrations (501 of 33,298).
  • The percentage of armed pro-Trump demonstrations increased last year. In 2021, 8.8% of pro-Trump demonstrations were armed (32 of 364) compared to 6.2% in 2020 (80 of 1,282).

uh this might get me hate but this is a rare instance of youtube doing its job and doing it well.

members videos are basically like patreon but directly on youtube. members who choose to fund a channel get ad-free and exclusive content on top of the knowledge their money/attention is going directly towards their favorite creator and not some random advertiser.

and youtube is doing its job by advertising this content. it would be a failure of a service if it kept these videos a secret.

either clever misinformation or really bad misunderstanding here. “profit compared to revenue” is not a useful metric of profitability and is quite misleading.

the costs associated with running an airline are incredibly high, mostly because of jet fuel. so of course, airlines are going to be the industry with some of the smallest profit margins.

and airlines are currently in a recovery period from covid, so their profits are lower than pre-pandemic numbers.

none of this excuses the cost cutting, stock buybacks, and other exploitative behaviors of airlines. 1-2% of billions of dollars is still a fuck ton of money.

yes. maintaining or tightening safety standards and their associated penalties in conjunction with penalizing delays is probably the best way to do this.

as a non-expert, i am hoping that the investigations into recent safety failures go somewhere positive so that the fears this comment section are bringing up are assuaged. cuz we shouldn’t as citizens be forced to choose between basic consumer rights and safety.
