You’re one of them today. Jk, I don’t think it applies specifically to this, this isn’t well known.

platypus_plumba ,

No, I meant that not knowing about the 10K didn’t really make him part of the daily 10K

platypus_plumba ,

I’ve been in some. Plenty of small companies with CEOs

platypus_plumba ,

I’ve been stuck in myself my whole life man. I’ve also been stuck in other people, but not as much as I’d like.

platypus_plumba ,

Do you get a heart attack every time you need to write to a database, effectively causing a side-effect? Only real Haskell developers do.

platypus_plumba ,

Damn, this guy Haskells.

Japanese disaster prevention X account can’t post anymore after hitting API limit - The issue has arisen after major Tsunami warnings have been issued in areas of Japan following a strong earthquake (www.dexerto.com)

Come on, this is totally the japanese government’s fault. They should be aware of the limits of the services they use. How are we blaming Twitter for the incompetence of the japanese government? I get that we want to hate in Twitter but how incompetent is that team? A disaster prevention team didn’t forsee the limits of the communication services they use?

I don’t like Twitter but come on, stop shifting the blame.

platypus_plumba ,

You can also refer to loads as nuts. Which probably means her slit is almost full but there’s enough space for yours.

platypus_plumba ,

Why do you care what other instances think about it? I’m honestly asking and expecting an answer here. This isn’t a sassy question.

You built a wall and now you’re asking people outside of that wall what it feels for you to leave. Well, I’d care if I could see what’s inside the wall, but I can’t. I tried subscribing and it was impossible.

So why do you care what people outside of your wall think? Again, I expect an answer here.

platypus_plumba ,

I think he is a fascist but I also think you shouldn’t judge him on his first days in office for shit like this.

He was given a pretty awful situation to deal with. It would be a surprise if he actually fixes it.

platypus_plumba ,

Wish granted, I’m the murderous kind of genie now. So… What’s your last wish?

I might move again. (Or not) (lemy.lol)

I moved from Lemmy.ml because I liked the name of Lemmy.world and it ran a newer Lemmy version which meant I could make communities. I moved from Lemmy.world because they defederated from piracy communities they didn’t even host (but for some reason still kept the small piracy community they DID host) From thelemmy.club...

platypus_plumba ,

Thank God I don’t give a fuck about Lemmy dramas. If it works and I like the content, I’ll stay.

platypus_plumba ,

That look. I hope you survive tonight, on your sleep.

platypus_plumba ,

Really depends on the task and how critical it is. I would never use gparted on the terminal, 3 clicks and I’m done in the UI, without risks.

platypus_plumba ,

“Hey man, I fucked yo wiiiiifeee”. “Quickly! smell my finger, how do you feel?”

platypus_plumba ,

Wouldn’t it be nice if your PC updated everything in under 2 minutes while you use it without having to restart?

Religion is arrogant when they use that as an excuse to decimate the population of indigenous people, when to force people to give 10% of their earnings to an institution, when they try to infiltrate their belief into a secular system, when they judge you for not having their same belief system… and, as a personal anecdote, when even the teachers bully you in your religious school because you chose not to go to church with the classroom.

Believing in something with no evidence or statistical confidence is arrogant because your belief says that everyone else’s belief is wrong.

A more humble approach would be to just accept your ignorance. Specially when you try to push your belief into reality, like politics, like most religious people do.

That camel looks like carrying that is a breeze. I don’t feel bad at all now.

Judge suggests change to nitrogen execution to let inmate pray and say final words without gas mask (apnews.com)

A federal judge who is weighing whether to allow the nation’s first execution by nitrogen hypoxia to go forward next month, urged Alabama on Thursday to change procedures so the inmate can pray and say his final words before the gas mask is placed on his face....

platypus_plumba ,

Oh wow, this sounds so humane.

I think it can be improved though. Just give him general anesthesia 5m before the nitrogen mask.

That should be the most peaceful way to go.

platypus_plumba ,

I mean, some people really deserve it. There are some living monsters out there, and I don’t believe in the sanctity of their life. I’d rather save a cow from a farm than save a serial murderer who raped the corpses of their victims. In my country these was this guy who raped, tortured and murdered like 60 children. He’s no longer people to me.

platypus_plumba , (edited )

I think some people are in fact beyond help. They’d be a waste of resources that could actually help others who can change. Humans don’t have unlimited resources, so assuming we can help every single murderer and child rapist until they are reformed and ready to join society is just idealistic and unrealistic. So even if you don’t like it, this is better than letting them rot in a cell until they die of old age.

Plus, we’re just little bugs on a tiny rock in a universe so big we can’t even begin to comprehend. The only reason human life seems so important to you is because you’re a human. Personally, I’d rather focus on people making society a better place and making others happy instead of putting effort on a guy who rapes, tortures and beheads children.

platypus_plumba ,

Yeha, but you can ask for help without taking a shit on the effort of thousands of engineers.

If you’re using a whole kernel for free, at least be nice when very deep technical things that you clearly don’t understand don’t go as you expected.

It’s called having etiquette

platypus_plumba ,

You could elaborate your point instead of using a word you’re unsure about.

platypus_plumba ,

It’s a good replacement for the heavy-fridge unit.

platypus_plumba ,

I wonder if he honestly thinks women aren’t allowed to disagree? He thinks they don’t have a brain and opinions?

What does he think women are?

platypus_plumba ,

Damn, you assumed pronouns like 4 times. Get ready to go to trans jail (jk)

platypus_plumba ,

I left Lemmy for like 6 months because I got tired of the echo chamber. I’m usually inclined to the left but this was just too much and too extreme. There were some pretty interesting topics that I learned here, like how badly designed society is and why cars are an artificial need. Those “intellectual” discussions (if you could call them that) kept me engaged, but even those spaces were ruined by people totally closed to the idea of a middle-ground.

platypus_plumba ,

ok

platypus_plumba ,

I wonder if a escort has said no to someone and legally kept the money.

platypus_plumba ,

— “Stop enjoy things the wrong way!!!”

— “Don’t be ass, man” puts pineapple in pasta

platypus_plumba ,

Most people look for that color, so most people buy that color expecting to sell easily. It’s a funny loop.

platypus_plumba ,

“In the reflections of still ponds, we see the truths of ourselves. So leap boldly through lilipads, for flies aren’t still, but let the ripples calm and presence your reflection”.

platypus_plumba ,

Because they use what you say to tagert ads and keep a record of who you are. That’s how they make money.

Which goes back to… You’re just a product. Stop using large platforms for personal shit. That’s their business model, how is it evil if most people know these companies rely on stealing as much information from you as they legally can AND they still use them.

platypus_plumba ,

Yep, always keep those messages coming. They are digging their own legal grave.

platypus_plumba ,

It’s strange how Mastodon is so willingly letting them in. Fishy… Fishy and hairy. Like a fish with some nice bangs. Maybe a mullet. A little mustache too, recently brushed with a little mustache brush.

platypus_plumba ,

I wouldn’t mind if someone stole and curated the top posts from certain subreddits I’m interested in.

I really don’t dislike reddit for their communities but for their CEO and corporate greed. The content is great.

I’m not there because I don’t want to give them money after they mistreated their users.

platypus_plumba ,

How is it even possible to do a SQL query on the database from another instance?

Makes no sense, databases should be private and behind the HTTP API. Why is he showing a SQL query as evidence?

So I’ll assume this is done via the HTTP API then. If that’s the case, why does an instance needs to see this information from other instances? By needs I mean if there’s an actual purpose for that info being exposed.

platypus_plumba ,

Oh sweet summer child, comments aren’t deleted either.

platypus_plumba ,

Wow. Off-topic but that sounds inefficient for very large networks of instances. Sounds like the federation is doing more that it should.

Is there some place to learn about the federation protocol?
