Actually the one you play with a skull. Most call it Griffball though.

mynachmadarch ,

Yeah, the steak looks like it was cooked some before the eggs were dropped in, so it won't be the prettiest but should cook and taste just fine.

mynachmadarch ,

I don't think it is (though Dems seem to pull that often). Supreme Court Justices seem to have a very hard time letting go of the power, even on the more progressive side (Notorious R.B.G. being the most recent example). There's basically no way to remove a supreme court justice, impeachment will pretty much never happen. I think it's more recognizing that multiple who are 75 years old in a stressful job and being targeted by the public more and more is likely to lead to at least one of them leaving, be it death or retirement.

mynachmadarch ,

Hey, some of us smart people can't do that basic math either 😭
(In my case, calculus and ADHD combined powers to make me useless with actual numbers, real and imaginary, lol)

mynachmadarch ,

That movie "Teeth" is about to have a resurgence of watchers I bet.

mynachmadarch ,

Yeah, Florida just did it wrong. They're not having major farming and trucking issues because they scared away a bunch of immigrants. It'll work this time everywhere else.

mynachmadarch ,

Just bought a hard drive today thanks to memorial day sales so I can dual boot and transition to Linux. Trying to decide between PonyOS, Hannah Montana OS, Pop OS, or Arch

Pronouns and tribal affiliations are now forbidden in South Dakota public university employee emails (apnews.com)

A new South Dakota policy to stop the use of gender pronouns by public university faculty and staff in official correspondence is also keeping Native American employees from listing their tribal affiliations in a state with a long and violent history of conflict with tribes....

mynachmadarch ,

Florida just banned lab grown meat and removed climate change targets from their books. So, the usual for them.

mynachmadarch ,

I just replace all my tests with noop codes. Quick, easy, passes.

mynachmadarch ,

I'm pretty sure March 26 is the day the pre-order started, so that one at least kind of makes sense.

mynachmadarch ,

And this is why I hate all web development and the fact that most jobs are web bs these days. Everything has so much crud baked in and including twelve modules with a million functions just to do anything is the norm.

Giving my back my beautiful optimized assembly dangit.

mynachmadarch ,

This and glue sauce are so worrisome. Like sure most people probably know better than to actually do that, but what about the ones they don't know? How many know how bad it is to mix bleach and ammonia? How long until Google AI is poisoned enough to recommend that for a tough stain?

mynachmadarch ,

Or a punk rock album with songs like "Oxford coma" (not misspelled), and "They're their there"

mynachmadarch ,

"Yes Mister senator, of course I'll give your campaign money in exchange for a new law helping the business I'm starting" would work even better.

Microsoft starts bundling Windows 11 with its 'PC optimizer' app in some regions (www.neowin.net)

PC optimizers are not a new concept, and they have been around for quite a while. Nowadays, many consider them unnecessary, but having an official program made by Microsoft that is capable of (allegedly) speeding up your PC may sound quite appealing....

mynachmadarch ,

Although I agree in general, the antivirus complaint isn't really fair. Windows was by and large the largest install base, especially in the corporate sector. It only makes sense it became the most targeted. Scam apps and that's do exist on Android and Linux, they're just mitigated other ways. For now.

mynachmadarch ,

I dunno about FartsWithAnAccent, but I'm getting so fed up and depressed by the current system I'm looking back around to hope. Not expecting, but hoping. Crazed optimism could be next for me.

mynachmadarch ,

Same, the first 13" colour e-ink that doesn't cost more than a single limb I'm so getting if I can swing it. I read digit comic books so much and having it as e-ink is my dream.

mynachmadarch ,

Do you have any documentation on this you can link because it doesn't really make sense what you mean and I love learning about these things. Most of the cutscenes will be rendered in engine so nothing special there, and the pre-rendered ones if they used an unusual codec I don't get why the codec isn't baked into the game files which would render that also a moot problem.

mynachmadarch ,

Okay, that's pretty lame. According to several spots (all quoting an RPGsite writer and an emoji response from a Sqenix dev) square Enix actually brought in a third party company specifically to improve Steam Deck support. Honestly makes sense, the steam deck seems like their largest potential new customer base.

mynachmadarch ,

Evermore makes me so sad. All that potential and a dream that just wasn't. It's planned theming was much more my speed too.

mynachmadarch ,

I can't comment on fairphone, but the Discord thing is likely not your phone, it's Discord or something. The same happens to me randomly on a Pixel 6a.

mynachmadarch ,

Even if this is lowercase and the dot on the i differentiates then the l would still be a dot.

mynachmadarch ,

I think the Pietà on my coffee table would be more of a conversation starter.

mynachmadarch ,

My coffee table is also above a basement, so I'll have to reinforce the joists, and probably the whole support of the house. Eh, I'll just make a scale copy out of Styrofoam on my CNC or something.

mynachmadarch ,

A tiramisu is a sweet lasagna. You have alternating layers of carb and sauce and cheese mixture of some kind.

A shepherd's pie is it's own unique thing as there are no alternating layers and the cheese layers are not mandatory.

The French parfait (different from what you're probably thinking) is a flipped shepherd's pie.

The American parfait is lasagna, as it's usually alternating layers of carb, fruits (with their sauce, often very jammy), and not cheese but a dairy mixture still.

mynachmadarch ,

Uh, have you had a food allergy test? Nothing in there should cause problems. It's just a regular bbq plate, but layered. Staple of the South and most don't have problems like that.

mynachmadarch ,

It's not stated well in that article but the bill actually has an exception for secret societies to request permits to wear masks for parades and such. A Democrat state rep (forget her name) pointed out this explicitly would protect the KKK but not regular folk wanting to, say, legally protest Palestine murders, because everyone knows they would be denied permits.

Earlier versions of this bill kept failing until they added what people are calling the KKK exception.

mynachmadarch ,

Or bring back the classics. I haven't been called a swamp kisser in a while.

mynachmadarch ,

Brings me back, Xbox live just doesn't have the same finesse in it's trash talk these days.

mynachmadarch ,

I did an internship in a small data center. That hurt to read. Made me miss the job too.

mynachmadarch ,

Is this the same place some nutjobs say the Vatican uses to guide a trillion pounds of gold and their illicit sex human trafficking ring or is that a different tunnel network?

mynachmadarch ,

I dunno, sounds like the tea version of butter coffee, which is coffee and butter and sprinkle of salt. I'd personally totally be down. Is yak butter a very different taste from cow butter? I want to try sheep butter but can't find it reasonably anywhere.

mynachmadarch ,

Option 3: pull up a list of the developers and venmo them each 10¢ then go pirate the game?

I'm only half kidding.

mynachmadarch ,

Wait, Lemuria was an actual place? I admit I've never looked it up and was raised by fundamentalist Christian parents about as crazy as this person, but I always thought it was just a place in the Conan the Barbarian world.

mynachmadarch ,

Okay, so great comic book kingdom, not so great real place. Cool, glad to see I'm not that crazy yet

Justice Department says Boeing violated deal that avoided prosecution after 737 Max crashes (apnews.com)

The Justice Department has determined that Boeing violated a settlement that allowed the company to avoid criminal prosecution after two deadly crashes involving its 737 Max aircraft, prosecutors told a federal judge on Tuesday....

mynachmadarch ,

Call it "Sky gate" and control the tube with a $15 cheapo gamepad and I'm in.

mynachmadarch ,

Congrats, you found EA's outreach representative. Those lootboxes ain't gonna gamble themselves (yet. AI might change that).

mynachmadarch ,

You absolutely can't. You just can't. Standing around the empty coffee pot yakking about the sportsball game over the weekend for 45 minutes and then spending three minutes agreeing you need a meeting to coordinate brainstorming just doesn't work over Teams.

They just refuse to admit that's a good thing.

mynachmadarch ,

I dunno. I got a dumpster and forced three families to finally clean their houses some. And only sportsball I watch is Calvinball but we're in the off season sadly.

(Am I doing this right? I always avoid the coffee pot because it was garbage coffee so missed all the collaborative talk)

mynachmadarch ,

A lot of them around me don't even own, just rent. They'd save money by just not having to keep that infrastructure up and running at max and getting out of their contract when it ends.

mynachmadarch ,

Beached - hauled up or stranded on a beach.
Beach - a strip of land covered with sand, pebbles, or small stones at the edge of a body of water, especially by the ocean between high- and low-water marks.

Dangit, you're right, try as I might I'm having a hard time twisting those definitions to anything other than the colloquially accepted meaning.

Python is great, but stuff like this just drives me up the wall (lemmy.world)

Explanation: Python is a programming language. Numpy is a library for python that makes it possible to run large computations much faster than in native python. In order to make that possible, it needs to keep its own set of data types that are different from python’s native datatypes, which means you now have two different...

mynachmadarch ,

Technically the Python bool is fine, but it's part of what makes numpy special. Under the hood numpy uses c type data structures, (can look into cython if you want to learn more).

It's part of where the speed comes from for numpy, these more optimized c structures, this means if you want to compare things (say an array of booleans to find if any are false) you either need to slow back down and mix back in Python's frameworks, or as numpy did, keep everything cython, make your own data type, and keep on trucking knowing everything is compatible.

There's probably more reasons, but that's the main one I see. If they depend on any specific logic (say treating it as an actual boolean and not letting you adding two True values together and getting an int like you do in base Python) then having their own also ensures that logic.

mynachmadarch ,

To be fair, having watched a lot of Legal Eagle on Youtube. I'm not convinced they aren't witches and wizards performing some archaic ritual.

mynachmadarch ,

If it's not shoved under the seat in front of you properly it can be a tripping hazard and slow things down, plus if the overhead bins don't stay latched well because they weren't maintained well (which is a thing I've seen often) then any emergency could possibly have thrown that into the aisle.

I dunno, it makes sense to at least look at it further.

mynachmadarch ,

Although technically coffee beans might fall under the literal definition of "burnt", most use it to mean overcooked, which coffee beans aren't, they're cooked just enough. Unless you're Starbucks, then yes they're burnt

mynachmadarch ,

Dry is used both for the sugar content and the mouth feel from tannins in wine, but yeah, it's usually referring to the residual grape sugars left after fermentation. Dry = low sugar,

mynachmadarch ,

No, I didn't have the time to put into it. I was already part of a Celtic group and the community orchestra so those songs always got priority, but I was nowhere near good enough to take lead on any (I was the youngest in the Celtic group and the only kid in the community orchestra full of music teachers, so I cut myself some slack, lol)
