The Curious Case Of The Underselling Arena Tours (www.stereogum.com)

“Who can afford to go to multiple shows?” says the anonymous tour manager. “Two tickets to a show, you’re talking probably about $200 with fees and everything. You go to a meal around the show, you’re talking at least $100 or $200 for a nice dinner. Then you got parking and babysitters, then you add the VIP stuff to...

There was a post about it. And, I get Lemmy as result in my Google search multiple times.

CEO of Google Says It Has No Solution for Its AI Providing Wildly Incorrect Information (futurism.com)

You know how Google’s new feature called AI Overviews is prone to spitting out wildly incorrect answers to search queries? In one instance, AI Overviews told a user to use glue on pizza to make sure the cheese won’t slide off (pssst…please don’t do this.)...

Oh, come on, he has a solution, and it’s “making money”.

AI is the new scam after crypto, nft, etc. The technology isn’t to blame itself. It can have some useful case for sure.

The real issue is the Market™, the belief in infinite growth. We arrived at the point of no return, where infinite growth is impossible. Humans like to challenge impossible. They will try to find whatever is possible to tackle the impossible. In our case, humans try to create growth artificially with crypto, nft, ai, and all the others. Because, it’s the only way to have a minimalist growth for the shareholders and investors. Billions if not trillions were invested in Google and the others AI companies to milk the last drop for some dividend. Short term dividends should have wrote.

These bad search results are not to serve the general interest. It’s here to serve these investments and return the last profit possible of the dogma of infinity in a finite world. It does indicate how bad the situation became for the economy. They are the cracks leaking the end of an era. They are symptomatic.

Lots of humans even with good academia are followers. They follow the mass. It’s not idiotic. If the group does this, it should not be bad or present a risk. It’s quite rational. If people eat apples, it’s safe and I can eat them too.

They use a similar reflexion with our socio-economical system. They follow.

It depends on whom we follow. Here, sociopathy plays a role. They are often more prompt to embrace power and favor selfishness.

The far right in France normalized its discourses and they are now at the top of the votes.

Also in France, people talked about pedophilia at the TV in the 70s, 80s and at the beginning of the 90s. It was not just once in a while. It was frequent and open without any trouble. Writers would casually speak about sexual relationships with minors.

The normalization will blur the limits between AI and reality for the worse. It will also make it more popular.

The other point is also that people will always ends with the original. Again, politic is a good example. Conservatives try to mimic the far right to gain votes but at the end people vote for the far right…

And, someone has a daughter. A pedophile takes a picture of her without asking and ask an AI to produce CP based on her. I don’t want to see things like this.

We can talk about the massive subsidies the US government did and do to the automakers. The propaganda paid with tax money to have a centered car environment.

Each country subsidies its automaker but doesn’t want the other to do so because “Free market™”. It’s at best hypocrite.

The issue with technosolutionism is that it can’t fit the necessary parameters to address climate change. We already know we can’t go further with infinite growth. It’s not possible to tackle climate change. We need degrowth. Without it, it’s impossible.

The problem is that our economy is based on growth, and this growth will generate the new tech. If you’re for state developed and owned technologies, you have to change the political dogma et system first.

Addressing the climate crisis is a change in the politic and in the economic system. Without both of them, it will continue.

Neoliberalized Democrats wouldn’t say better. This why people doesn’t trust and believe in them anymore. They became neolib like every others and they are chasing the myth of the middle voter.

One result is abstention. The second is people voting for the far right.

In Europe, people have an ID since they are born. And, you need it to go to your neighboring countries which are never far away. Not having an ID is quite rare. You even have countries delivering it for free.

Also note that passports are valid IDs.

Rabbit R1 is Just an Android App (lemmy.world)

See, it turns out that the Rabbit R1 seems to run Android under the hood and the entire interface users interact with is powered by a single Android app. A tipster shared the Rabbit R1’s launcher APK with us, and with a bit of tinkering, we managed to install it on an Android phone, specifically a Pixel 6a....

Texas promotes itself with the no income taxes, but what the state provide afterward is another story. People believe in the argument and discover the reality. Your neighbor backyard isn’t greener. If you cut a tax, you either take the money somewhere else or cut your expense. People discover that paying taxes provides some benefits…

France is here a better example. The Gendarmerie has its own distribution based on Ubuntu called GendBuntu. The state developed Tchap, a messaging system based on matrix. And many are looking to Linux to simply cut the cost like the french army.

Side note: The app Fedilab has its package name based on the french government open source projects (fr.gouv.etalab.mastodon).

The point isn’t what they did or do. It’s what they claim. They claim to care about you and your privacy but comply with governments.

If they really care about privacy, they would allow sideloading of apps to circumvent bans. But, in fact, they created a walled garden where the walls follows the governments requirements to maximize the profits at the cost of the privacy.
