Did you mean to say Windows 10?

Ads have been served in Home edition since 10 was dropped with 1507. And they strip group policy from it to make it harder to change that. Windows Vista to Windows 8.1 were offered free upgrades to Windows 10, based on the version those keys belonged to.

I’m right now testing Windows 11 deployment for work and I hate it. I’ll move to Linux before I move to Windows 11 on my personal devices.

I recently found an Android app on F-Droid called “Linux Command Library” and for the first time I’m not as intimidated to try Linux for my main driver/gaming rig. Previously, I had always fucked my installs up by facing an issue I wanted to fix, and using any info online to do so, even if I had no idea what the command was actually doing. Almost always I end up fucking everything up and needing to reinstall.

I’ve been saving posts and comments regarding Linux info for the last month on Lemmy and cannot wait to take the plunge and finally rid myself of Microsoft!

I keep saying the same things. These wealthy morons are destroying the planet, lives, civilization, and governments to earn short-sighted profits. They clearly aren’t as smart as they like to think they are because the low pay to workers means those workers’ can’t buy a lot of the shit these businesses make. Then because of low profits, the jackasses lay off workers to show “growth” in the company at earnings. Fewer people have the means to buy what they’re selling so it just keeps spiraling down.

They destroy the planet for the same reason. They think at the end of it all, they can just throw money at the problem and fix it immediately, making it all worth it on the end. Thing is, circling back to the first part, they’re wealthy and not intelligent. If the planet took this long to get to 1.5°C, what do they think they can accomplish before catastrophic ecological disaster we’re already seeing the start of?

Then should they fail to fix it, a subset of them think they can just escape the planet to space. Thing is we’re still decades from living in space or another planet. The planet is on the decline now, not in a few decades.

It’s infuriating how selfish these people are…

I hear ya. I only recently got Vyvanse for the first time in about 5 weeks. Finally the generic drops, I call about a week after to see about getting that or the brand named version and they are out of generic.

Also, as if anyone needed a reminder, but insurance companies are such stupid fucks. I tried to fill my original script for the named version and my insurance refused to authorize it, citing they will only approve the generic version now that it’s out. Like, WTF do they think can happen in 1-week? Did anyone there take any economics classes?

So I contacted my provider and they wanted to write me physical scripts I’d have to drive across town to get. My pharmacy didn’t have any 70mg available, which was why they offered. I pushed the point about not wanting to drive to the office, monthly (because this government is shit and we can’t get any larger supply), and they managed to get authorization for a 30mg and 40mg supply.

I took my only ADHD medicine for the first time in over a month this last Friday. I be turned 39 on Tuesday off last week…

Definitely seems like a contributor. I wonder, also, how much of the delay was because pharmacies were told that the generic was coming, decided not to buy much of the more expensive stuff and hoped their stock would get them by until the generic was readily available.

The House is the kiddie table at a family reunion, where there is an overabundance of small, bratty kids. Half of those children want to get food and make sure everyone has enough to eat, but refuses to share their ball, their toys, or their area, and think sitting in pee is an acceptable alternative that other kids should be content with.

The other side wants to eat all the food, even food they aren’t entitled to, the cake, blame the kids next to them for eating the cake, then take a shit on the plate where the cake was, and tell all the other kids it was the cake the whole time.

The parents are nearly as shitty, but most of them are in their 80s or higher and are propped up with sticks, bailing wire, and denture cream.

Look for other large corporations to continue this trend: offer a product to the masses for free, wait until you have little to no competitors and dominate in market share, then put it behind a pay wall or strongarm changes that most of the population doesn’t understand. Oracle did it with Java, knowing most companies were too invested to look for alternatives, and now Google is doing it with their Chrome baked-in privacy changes and ad crackdown.

I expect to see more of this trend from “free” services as the people continue to wake up and take their personal data seriously. We know the government(s) won’t do a thing to change the status quo, and I have no idea what else to do other than cry into my ramen and binge watch the death of a planet in 4K!

Unfortunately, the rich keep scarcity high to ensure they not only make the most money, but they can use less money to buy favors from those with less. Man greed sucks…

I just got told today to begin Windows 11 build testing at work. No one in the meeting seemed enthusiastic about it even going so far as to make fun of it’s many…issues. Once I’m done getting off Google services, my next move is too divorce Windows like Melinda divorced Bill!

I just wish I wasn’t so good at fucking up Linux on every machine I’ve tried it on.

    Ps, Blizzard did the same shit with their battle.net client when they removed the ability to pop out the friends list like 3 years ago (or centuries, it feels like), forcing you to use the client just to communicate with friends. All so they could blast you with advertisements to other services they provide.

    First, any veteran worth their weight in salt know they aren’t some sort of Messiah for the people. Those of us that served, myself included, joined and did our jobs to protect others; family, friends, communities, and country. Only those veterans with selfish intentions would hold a private business in less regard for refusing service to anyone they are legally able to refuse service to.

    Second, this is about uniformed police, not veterans. Those two things are not synonymous. Veterans, the ones I mentioned in the first paragraph, don’t feel the need to walk around with their dicks guns out to buy a bagel. I’m not sure if you are conflating them out of ignorance or a misunderstanding.

    As a millennial, I’ve all but given up on seeing any meaningful change in what remains of my life. I’m tired of living on hopeium that boomers will get the fuck out of positions of power so some of the very obvious lies the wealthy told them, of which was regurgitated and believed by them and us, can start to be fixed. They lied about everything from going to college to get a better job, to the TWO, “once in a generation” economic crashes, to the over-bloated military industrial complex, to a botched global pandemic, to the gaslighting about fossil fuels and global warming, I’m done. I just try find candidates and causes that seem to genuinely want change and throw what little extra money my wife and I have at them.

    My hope is that the Gen-Z kids continue to not give a fuck about shaking up the system and use their superior knowledge of technology to finally out these dinosaurs in Congress and enact some real change. I just don’t have any fight left in me, especially after COVID and the very obvious lies being told, to our face this time, that COVID was no big deal, all so some wealthy boomer could eat in a restaurant and get their hair done.

    I see this attitude reflected in many of my peers, too. It’s a generational burnout on life, and the best I can muster is to throw support behind those with fight left in them.
