I’m an edition snob.

Not fancy ones, just certain ones. These tiny Agathas are one such edition, & today I added two more to the stack.

@Likewise @bookstodon I have the same thing for specific editions. I have a specific soft cover edition of all of Elric and Fahfrd & Grey Mouser books, chased one by one in thrift shops and off ebay

@maxprime my technology teacher in middle school did something similar with me and a bunch of other kids in 1995 or so. That's how I fixed my first pc, and eventually started a career in IT. There was no team competition, but he basicallt said "these are some broken computers, if you can fix them you can have a lab to play Doom or whatever you want. He helped us setting up the IPX network tbf, but we had to check what dimm banks were working, which not, same with hdd and processors, and put togheter everything and install Windows 3.11

If you cannot stop the wrath of a supernatural spirit, then maybe you can at least redirect it to some people you don't care about as much.

@juergen_hubert @KonchogTenzenSangpo @greenspindle @germany @folklore not in the public domain yet, but Italo Calvino's collection of Italian Folktales from 1956 is my go-to. He was inspired by a similar effort by Gianfrancesco Straparola in the 1500s, and that one should definitely be in the public domain

@mythologymonday @AimeeMaroux @bookstodon @mythology @folklore @folklorethursday @TarkabarkaHolgy @juergen_hubert @curiousordinary @wihtlore @FairytalesFood Laura Orvieto's Stories of the World (Storie della Storia del Mondo, in Italian) is a classic for Italian children, a retelling of the Iliad written and illustrated at the beginning lf the 1900s that holds up to this day. I have read it to my daughter recently, and was amazed at how accessible, yet close to sources it was.

@juergen_hubert @Tim_Eagon @germany @folklore and I will read it. I am a sucker for folklore. Reading Italio Calvino's collection of Italian folklore in middle school heavily influenced my approach to GMing and storytelling, and every time I read more from other cultures my m fantasy worlds become richer

@juergen_hubert @Tim_Eagon @germany @folklore I am loving it, deeply. Trivia: Venetian dialect in Italy is often considered a bit alien, with sounds like 'xe' that aren't found elsewhere. The aliens from the Simpsons for example speak Venetian in the Italian dubbing
