Do you often hear the ringing of switching power supplies and devices when you are in a quiet space?

I’m curious, how many people are aware of these sounds. I have designed, etched, and built my own switching power supplies along with winding my own transformers. I am aware of the source of the noise. So, does anyone else hear these high frequency sounds regularly?

Why am I comparing apples to organges?

I can relate but these top jobs are best suited for guys from sales coz they know how to talk and play with words.

I asked you according to this statement, if you want to tell me, that Steve Jobs was a sales guy.

Its insane to promote paying services over pirating like this in a piracy forum. Kids what went wrong? Why are you like this?

Don’t listen to the trolls please, you have to think long term, how will you grow in the next 2 to 5 (or even 10) years, because without a doubt you will grow and have a learning curve which alters the way you will use your machine. There are tons and tons of solutions and people pitching it from their Linux ricer power user perspective.

Don’t make yourself regret and/or spent countless hours switching back and forth, solving issues, looking through help articles, etc etc

I know it’s hard but trust me, you literally cannot make a good choice now with your current state. Just install Ubuntu and get a hang of it, use it, do your stuff you want to do and when you are comfortable with Ubuntu, then throw that piece of junk in the trash and switch to Debian Stable - no, not SID, no you won’t miss out on all the cool bleeding edge AUR packages.

When you take this path I described you will grow with the system and you will be able to make the decision based on your needs, wants and use cases. Trust me or suffer, I am sorry new guy.

You are on to something. Why doesn’t mainstream media talk about this?

I tried, I really did

I’ve been an IT professional for 20 years now, but I’ve mainly dealt with Windows. I’ve worked with Linux servers through out the years, but never had Linux as a daily driver. And I decided it was time to change. I only had 2 requirements. One, I need to be able to use my Nvidia 3080 ti for local LLM and I need to be able...

Another question about used hard drives

Did decide to go the used drive route just saving up and waiting for the right deal from a good seller. I did notice on eBay specifically that some sellers have tested drives for a great price per tb with a shit seller’s warranty (30 days to 1 year) but offer insurance for a significantly longer length of time for a few more...

The 3-2-1 rule can aid in the backup process. It states that there should be at least 3 copies of the data, stored on 2 different types of storage media, and one copy should be kept offsite, in a remote location (this can include cloud storage). 2 or more different media should be used to eliminate data loss due to similar reasons (for example, optical discs may tolerate being underwater while LTO tapes may not, and SSDs cannot fail due to head crashes or damaged spindle motors since they do not have any moving parts, unlike hard drives). An offsite copy protects against fire, theft of physical media (such as tapes or discs) and natural disasters like floods and earthquakes. Physically protected hard drives are an alternative to an offsite copy, but they have limitations like only being able to resist fire for a limited period of time, so an offsite copy still remains as the ideal choice.

Starting to use "soulseek" do I need VPN

So I use a VPN when torrenting as per usual but with Soulseek I wish to share my music with others and that requires me to open a port. I have no problem doing so I just do not pay for a VPN that can do this at the current price I am paying. Is it possible/what are the chances of me getting in trouble ISP wise from using...

I wouldn’t set the platform as scope but instead peer to peer technology. Looking at that scale there are quite some people being sued. Also being sued in that regard is a case of over protection because you really don’t want to be sued, not even once.

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

You can’t guarantee that there won’t be a lawyer logging in, writing down your IP

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

It happened, that P2P users have been sued because lawyers were getting into the share and wrote down the IPs of the other user.

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

You should change your scope then and stop looking only at the platform but at the technology, because it is the point of breach.

Back then when I still worked at a radio station, the technician would always have one monitor with a similar orientation.

Yes it’s easier to read and display lists with this orientation. So the radio technician would have the music and jingle list open like that

Nothing is ever unlimited. I once rented a server with unlimited storage, so I fork bombed it and basically used the unlimited storage. Turned out, they added storage to my account when I reached 75% of my storage. Turned out, they kinda paid me to stop.

How to install Skyrim

I downloaded the game files, mounted the .iso files and added the game to setup.exe to my steam library and installed the game under the mountpoint. When i click play in steam i just get back to the installer. Running the SkyrimSe.exe in steam(located in the CODEX directory) doesnt work. I use Arch Linux.
