Holy cow, this is bad - check out the nonsensical figures in this review: completely generated in Midjourney (!!), not even re-labeling the gibberish text labels (!!!).

This was published by Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, where the editorial office should have caught this and nuked it from orbit. Wow.

I have a paper on crow behaviour under review that uses agent-based modelling in R to predict survival outcomes. One review is complete, but the editor emailed to ask for more reviewer recommendations because she is struggling to find willing reviewers.

Anyone fancing reviewing a lovely modelling paper about crows?

@banibau @academicchatter Desk reject mit Floskeln, dass "surely potential merit" darin ist, aber unsere Arbeit halt "somewhat outside current scope and interests" läge. Wir hätten es da nicht eingereicht, wenn wir nicht der Meinung gewesen wären, dass es einwandfrei zu den Themen des Journals gepasst hätte. Es ist also wie immer: Stumpfe Abweisung mit keinerlei Feedback.

@banibau @academicchatter Merci für die lieben Worte. Heute schon erledigt. Wir hatten noch ein weiteres gut passendes Journal in der Hinterhand, das jetzt das Manuskript zugeschickt bekommen hat. Mal sehen, ob wir uns in unserer Einschätzung wieder scheinbar so vertan haben oder ob es jetzt passen könnte.
