Requirements to put in a job description to discourage or filter out autistic people:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong people skills
  • Good culture fit
  • Multitasking
  • A fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree or better

I see these things and think you don't want my >30 years of programming and machine learning experience, or my problem-solving skills and comprehensive knowledge that had people mistaking me for one of the team's PhDs, or my solutions that have proven patent-worthy. Your loss.

Turns out, it's only policy makers who get stressed when students talk about race. None of the 67 students in this highschool study reported increased stress when participating in an anti-racist intervention while many reported growth in awareness of social inequality.

This is the first real data I've seen on this topic and it appears, once again, that the fears of harming students is just a boogeyman in the minds of right-wing politicians.

@FantasticalEconomics I am SO angry! Those whites "policy makers" did not even care to begin to think about HOW MUCH racism stresses Black Kids out! As if their stress didn't count @academicchatter @edutooters

💛 “The Contributions Enslaved Africans Made to American Society”

@ourhumanfam If I were a Florida teacher, I would teach how enslaved African People developed their skills FURTHER, DESPITE of the enslavement.
"Further" tells, that they had knowledge and skills prior to enslaving and "Despite" puts emphasis on their abilities to survive enslavement on their own devices.
Language wields power, use it.

@ourhumanfam I am not a teacher... if I was, I would have been sacked a while ago for exactly this kind of testing the boundaries... but till that time I would have made an impression on the kids and would have change the life's path for quite some of them.

In 2016, Jack Daniel’s announced the company would make changes to its official history. They planned to honor Nathan “Nearest” Green, the African American man who taught the real Jack Daniel to make whiskey in the mid-1800s. Green had been enslaved on the farm of a preacher and distiller named Dan Call; Jack Daniel, 30 years younger than Green, was a chore boy on the same farm. It fell on Green to teach Daniel how to work the still and use a charcoal filtration process that likely originated in West Africa.

Vanilla was born in the jungles of Central America, and could not be cultivated anywhere else until a 12-year-old enslaved boy named Edmond figured out that the plant could be self-pollinated by hand. His ingenuity allowed for the plant to be farmed globally, and now there's a multi-billion-dollar industry around it. The BBC has the story of vanilla's wild journey and the boy that made it happen.

@claralistensprechen3rd Go get a life. You are not contributing anything useful to this thread. Instead, you try anti-Blackness in a very unsuitable form (spoiler: all forms of anti-Blackness are unsuitable) because you have nothing else to say, know nothing. I almost feel sorry for ou. Tonight we are going to one of our favorite holiday events: the HipHop Nutcracker at Strathmore Theater. It's a fun re-telling of the classic story and at the end Kurtis Blow comes out and does a break dance! And yes...he is quite old to still be doing that. Masks on of course. Xmas day will be quiet with a Zoom call to family who are far. Tree at my house and the Kwanzaa set at my daughter's so my grandson learns traditions
