Maybe you've heard that people can be nonverbal or nonspeaking. But did you know there are many ways to be semi-speaking? I'll list some I just learned about below. Sing out if any of these resonate with you! @autisticadvocacy

@Dynamicallydisabled @autisticadvocacy That definitely resonates with me! I’ve been powering through it on the rare occasions when I have to go out in public, which just adds to emthe exertion of driving, being around people, and whatever errands I have to do. Most of my language interactions are in writing like this, so I can reserve my verbal energy for talking with my spouse.

The worst for me is phone calls. I have one remote friend who just doesn’t get it. He tries to call me nearly daily, sometimes multiple times, despite the fact I have told him repeatedly how hard talking is for me. Mostly, I just hit the decline button.

17th-century New England farmers moved a mind-staggering amount of stone to build walls – an estimated 240,000 miles of barricades, most stacked thigh-high and similarly wide.

That’s long enough to wrap Earth 10x at the equator – and is larger in volume than the Great Wall of China, Hadrian’s Wall in Britain and the Egyptian pyramids at Giza COMBINED.

@TheConversationUS @histodons Many of us in New England are still building these walls, both to remove stones out of fields and for property lines. Also, the peoples we stole the land from left all sorts of mostly non-linear stone constructions around the landscape which are only now being identified by their descendants.

I hate that I have to send emails like this. But that's what it's come to, isn't it.

@aram @xdydx @academicchatter The Guardian is tracking this state-by-state at https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2022/jun/28/tracking-where-abortion-laws-stand-in-every-state and most recently updated it 10 Nov 2023.

I have not found any US-based media that are keeping an up-to-date map or list.

I would like to ask for your help.

As part of my dissertation project, I'm aiming to collect a large research sample to help construct a validated measure on Teacher Attitudes towards Multilingual Learners.

If you are a teacher (primary, secondary, tertiary education), and you teach multilingual students, could I please ask for 10 minutes of your time?

The survey is available here:

https://uofg.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6tZfFXjn5SD2PtA

Please boost—thank you so much!

My short term memory isn’t so great, so I will often find myself putting the same things off over-and-over again in an endless loop.

Do you ever deal with this?
