18+ Can we have a conversation about indie authors and "smut"?

When did written pornography become the norm for indie authors? I remember when Amazon was first taking off for indie authors and, yes, there was a lot of smut, a lot of Christian romance, but also a ton of cyberpunk, crime, and even some literary fiction. Now, every time I see an indie author on Threads or X, they exclusively...

Three reasons:

  1. The intentional erosion of healthy personal and cultural values (integrity, aspiration, the pursuit of real love).
  2. Capitalism pursues only profit (regardless of the impact). And marketing is a race to the bottom.
  3. Many artists sold-out in the past 15 years (or were ‘duped’ into selling-out).

Thus, we are in an artistic dead-era.

…And will be… until we realize that it leads to nothing…

and create something better… Honest and Brave.

That will be the actual Liberation.

Yes - and I think connecting with your soul again means having real authentic fun.

Doing what you feel is right, and what you fully love to do.

The ultimate method is:

Cultivate your own ‘Subscribed’ feed.

Then almost every post is good.

You choose your own level of involvement.

Be honest:

Who do you think is more likely to hit the game-winning free-throw?

  • a guy who looks at the hoop thinking “aw crap I’m gonna airball, and everyone is gonna laugh at me”
  • a guy who looks at the hoop thinking “okay I’m gonna swish this, and my whole team is going to celebrate”

Many top-achievers describe the power of visualizing success (positive manifestation).

Many people who pray are cultivating healthy virtues (patience, kindness, strength).

Have you ever heard the term “self-fulfilling prophecy”?

A friendly thought for you:

If your beliefs can change your body (which is part of the universe), and your changed body can further change the universe…

then transitively… your beliefs can change the universe, right?

And if that is true, then perhaps belief can be more than a placebo… Maybe it is a real, effective, psychological muscle.

[Common Dreams] Teamsters Say Contract Talks Have Collapsed After UPS Made 'Unacceptable Offer' (www.commondreams.org)

The Teamsters said Wednesday that high-stakes talks with UPS over a new contract for more than 340,000 workers have fallen apart after the company presented an offer that union negotiators deemed badly inadequate.

Hold strong and stay true to your principles…

They need us more than we need them.

“97% of UPS workers represented by the Teamsters voted to authorize the largest single-employer strike in U.S. history if there’s no acceptable contract deal in place by the end of July.”

Great audiobook narrations?

After listening to a few clips of The Silmarillion narrated by Andy Serkis, I am interested in seeing if I could actually get used to listening to audiobooks. I usually can’t focus enough on audio alone to keep up with a book but now I’m thinking it might be more of a narration quality thing than anything else....

Voice is the most important factor for audiobooks.

One narrator with a great voice is Tom Parker (aka Grover Gardner).

Here is his reading of The Dharma Bums (on youtube).
