Most of the people who used the 3rd party apps weren’t people who just doom scrolled shit that was fed to them. Most of them had all the default shit blocked or unsubed. It was all niche stuff the majority was subed to that had very little ad revenue for reddit. It’s why the protests didn’t really work, reddit didn’t give a shit about the million or so people who went with niche subs using 3rd party apps.

Forums are starting to make a comeback, reddit is shit for a lot of historical style discussions(like on going threads) and Facebook groups and discord are completely trash for it as well. I’m seeing a lot of the forums I used to visit start to pick back up.

Also don’t cry when you see the life expectancy vs per capita cost… Germany is #2 cost wise and we’re still 4k over what they spend on their people. We literally spend so much and get so little in return.

I surf it because reddits app is trash and even the desktop old.reddit site is starting to be put out to pasture by reddit. It’s just better here. I use boost for Lemmy and it’s been amazing.

Naa I think a large chunk just think most of these guys have that in cash laying around. Someones liquid worth is a lot less than what they have. Everyone of these guys has their money tied to a company. If you make them sell the stock to cover the tax you’re going to watch these companies go under.
