OOT is ok but most people that played wind waker or twilight princess first will have a hard time getting into it. Most 5th gen games have aged pretty poorly and need a solid dose of nostalgia to fully enjoy.

Sabin10 ,

Get scene releases from trusted sources (not public trackers) and ensure that the hash matches what is in the nfo on predb.

Sabin10 ,

That’s fair. As long as the hash matches what is in the predb nfo, you should be good to go. I have encountered legit looking releases on public sites with edited nfo files though so definitely double check against a reliable source ce for that.

Sabin10 ,

All the private trackers I use have bonus systems so you can still build ratio. It’s usually a slow start on a new tracker but once you get established it’s very easy to keep a 1:1 or better ratio. I don’t bother with debrid services because paying for piracy is where I draw the line.

As for checking hashes, I don’t do it on any of the private trackers I use but OP seems overly paranoid so I figured it was solid advice for them. I always checked when I still used public trackers. Only twice did I ever find a mismatch, one was actually malicious and the other was just a random crc error.

Sabin10 ,

I’ve never paid for a private tracker but users can donate if they want. Like I said, I have a firm belief that piracy should be free. Never paid for it, never will. A good tracker with top site bots and well seeded torrents is good enough for me. Releases are on there within minutes, download speeds that max out my connection are good enough for me.

Sabin10 ,

But university students manage to feel overwhelmed if their course load has them putting in 35 hours a week.

Sabin10 ,

I’ve heard that the board of directors got rid of a lot of the old executive team, that was made up of people that had worked as engineers and knew how to build an airplane, and brought in people that instead knew how to maximize profit and reduce costs.

Sabin10 ,

I didn’t know about the leak until now. Now I’m going to track it down when I otherwise wouldn’t have. Thanks Warner Brothers.

Sabin10 ,

Scared white men think the initiatives mean they’ll be passed over for a less qualified diversity hire. They don’t understand that jobs have been going to less qualified white men, instead of more qualified minorities for decades.

Sabin10 ,

I’m to young for the first one but too old for the second one. I’m also used to society ignoring my generation so that’s fine.

Sabin10 ,

I would love it if T8 could lock a solid 60fps on the deck. T7 fluctuates between 45 to 60 for me with everything set to low, not ideal for a fighting game.

Sabin10 ,

If you managed to play through reloaded, revolution will be a wall in the park. I played through it yesterday and it’s great.

Sabin10 ,

It’s no more difficult that portal 2 was IMO.

Sabin10 ,

If inflation wasn’t through the roof maybe. As it is, some of them are making slightly less than they were 3 years ago instead way less. The only ones winning are the oligarchs.

Sabin10 ,

Not enough to make up for the three prior years.

Sabin10 ,

I’m going to go against what others are saying and advise against the raspberry pi. If you are serious about ps2, ps3 and gamecube, the pi will struggle with more games than it runs well. Especially for ps3, you’ll want at least a 4c/8t CPU, preferably no more than 5 years old, anything less will struggle.

Sabin10 ,

Data poisoning isn’t limited to just AI stuff and you should be doing it at every opportunity.

Sabin10 ,

T7 has performance issues on the deck for me, I’m not hopeful for 8.

Sabin10 ,

Lack of net neutrality is a huge part of it. Korean ISPs bill sites like twitch for the data they use.

Sabin10 ,

Mildly amusing if you ask me.

Sabin10 ,

I work in print and only one of my coworkers picked up on what’s happening here so far.

Sabin10 ,

What’s wrong with wanting to pay tribute to Beavis and Butthead?

Sabin10 ,

So you don’t watch TV, you just like the audio distraction.

Sabin10 ,

Strictly speaking, I’m not opposed to monetization in f2p games but the pricing is egregious.

When the le seraffim bundle for overwatch 2 dropped they also put their in game currency on sale so you could get enough currency to get the bundle for $50 instead of $70 and people were calling it a great value.

Even at $50, that’s enough for 4 months of humble choice which would net you 32 games and 6-8 of them would be AAA games.

Sabin10 ,

I’d still take the snes but DC is my second choice since I’m a big fan of fighting games

Sabin10 ,

The 5th gen consoles are a great time capsule of everything developers didn’t understand about 3d gaming. If you don’t have a strong sense of nostalgia for them, most of the games aren’t worth bothering with and even the ones that still hold up were mostly dead ne better on the 6th gen consoles.

The fact that most of the great 2d games were intentionally withheld from the North American market is a real shame since the ps1 and Saturn were amazing at 2d.

Sabin10 ,

5h gen consoles are basically the 3d equivalent of the Atari.

Sabin10 ,

Wtf op, you could be as old as these synths and still not be an old man. These guys are not even close. Are you 13?

Sabin10 ,

Damn, you are right. Dude is doing a great job of staying young.

Sabin10 ,

No, that would mean it can be used on it’s own. It’s literally a dumb terminal for the ps5 and nothing more.

Sabin10 ,

The rest of the world doesn’t exist, it’s just a scam made up by the passport cartel to fleece you of your money every few years.

Sabin10 ,

And hopefully higher clocks and/or more cores when docked or on AC. I lov love my steam deck but would love it more if it could manage 1080p when docked without the performance tanking.

Sabin10 ,

A little, yeah. It’s screen is 800p and the hardware was designed to target that. Older and less demanding games manage ok at 1080p or even 4k but newer AAA games are not going to get there.

Sabin10 ,

Fortnite killed that and I’m still bitter about it

Sabin10 ,

Actual 80s kids grinded this level until they could make it through without taking much damage. When you only owned a half dozen games you got pretty good at all of them.

Sabin10 ,

The timing on those jumps is tight enough that it is substantially harder with the 2-3 frames of input latency that many modern controllers and displays add.

Sabin10 ,

You think the kids that sat at the back of the classroom, saying learning math is a waste of time because they’ll never need to use it, can form an opinion on this? They see the words “interest rate” and decide this news is completely irrelevant because they can’t understand it.

Sabin10 ,

As a gamer, proton/lutris still isn’t quite to the point that I am ready to make the jump. It’s very close though and I’m going to make the switch probably in the next 24 months.

I tried over 20 Steam Next demos so that you don't have to!

And I’ve rated them all below. I’m very glad Steam decided to do a big promotional event around them- it helped point me toward a lot of games I would have never tried/heard of otherwise. Some of the good ones might not be good the entire game, but they were at least good in the demo....

Sabin10 ,

What controller are you using? The right stick controlled my camera just fine with a dual shock 4 in windows and on my steam deck. Control issues aside, if you aren’t a fan of racing games, this game isn’t going to change that but the demo has me very excited for the full release.

Probably crushed by falling blocks while genki rockets plays in the background.

Playing TMNT 2 on 3:2 monitor (lemmy.ml)

Discovered this video from RetroGameCorps and decided to try it. The monitor is great, it’s quite nice to play with tiny borders. I more of a NES fan and trying to finish TMNT 2 right now. But it looks even more amazing for GameBoy Advance games, which have exactly 3:2 resolution....

Sabin10 , (edited )

People are so addicted to the arbitrary “you did it!” mcguffins that they’ve started adding them to games that never had them. Now NES games aren’t done when the credits role because you failed to make it through stage 3 without taking damage or some other bull shit.

Sabin10 ,

China has spent decades building up their reputation of a place that produces cheap, inferior copies of better products and they aren’t going to shake that overnight or even in a few years.

What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved?

I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....

Sabin10 ,

I remeber playing Jedi fallen order and seeing ships being broken down like that during the opening mission. I thought that I would rather be doing that and then hardspace showed up on steam a few days later. It’s been on my wish list for way too long, definitely going to pick it up for my next game

Sabin10 ,

It’s also 90 percent off on steam right now. Just grabbed it for $4.40 Canadian after tax.

Sabin10 ,

There was a solar storm this past week that was strong enough to make the aurora visible in southern Canada and the northern us. That strong a storm doesn’t care if the satellite has been up there 5 years of 5 weeks.

Sabin10 ,

They only have to target a single hardware configuration, the os has much less overhead than a typical desktop os, a graphics api that runs closer to the metal (also why the ps5 outperforms the more powerful series x) and some good development tools all go a long way to boosting the performance of the hardware.

I have an r5 3600 with an rtx 2070 and would not be surprised if the ps5 performs better with multiplatform titles.
