Scam Numbers - Reddit's (and possibly the internet's) largest scam number depository, now on Lemmy! (lemmy.zip)

With almost 40k subscribers on Reddit, r/ScamNumbers is one of the most useful online databases for tracking down scam phone numbers. Some use the information for awareness, while others take advantage by prank calling scammers to waste their time....

RedditRefugee69 ,

Can someone explain to me how to use this data to block calls?

RedditRefugee69 ,

That’s just naturally what keeps others engaged. Per of it is that people like talking about their own life and interests. Part of it is just keeping the conversation going. But it’s definitely a IRL conversation/charisma pro tip

RedditRefugee69 ,

I’m so technologically illiterate I couldn’t figure out how to access the sears.space website. All I can find is versions and instances and a GitHub page

RedditRefugee69 ,

I would also like to note that the safety card blew out too. It’s a miracle they survived without the safety card

RedditRefugee69 ,

People are people. We just always demonize the ones we disagree with. But it’s that demonization of others that makes people commit true evil acts

RedditRefugee69 ,

Yeah I was gonna say “is that a blue heeler?”

RedditRefugee69 ,

Have you tried it with bourbon though?

RedditRefugee69 , (edited )

That’s why you need to have mediocre bourbon on hand too

RedditRefugee69 ,

Uruk, celebrating Christmas since before it was Jesus

RedditRefugee69 ,

In anyone else is blind, they’re train/subway track

RedditRefugee69 ,

Yes, but Hamas did start the war so it’s not that simple

RedditRefugee69 ,

Now this is the kind of critical thinking I strive for. Fuck both of them

RedditRefugee69 ,

I find it interesting that the hamas Israel conflict has become such a political issue. Support of Israel in general, yeah religiously charged. But Hamas did start the attack and do a ton of fucked up stuff. SO many hostages including Americans. Israel is an oppressive government and from a distance seems systemically racist not just overly defensive. I just feel like this is a more nuanced issue

RedditRefugee69 ,

I just think it’s worth noting that Hamas does call for the destruction of Israel. You can’t discount one set of lost lives for another. The only real victims here are non-Hamas Palestinians

RedditRefugee69 ,

Here’s the reading I can find. US Gov CFR

I’m not finding anything explicit about the destruction of Israel being a Hamas goal which is interesting. I wonder if anyone else can find that source. I would love for that not to be the case

RedditRefugee69 ,

I’m honestly not. I want to learn, especially in times like these where the information warfare is so tough on both sides. These were just the only more academic sources I could find. I’m not saying “I’m right until you prove otherwise” just trying to crowd source research

RedditRefugee69 ,

That is interesting and thank you for the primary source reference! I’m trying to interpret the 1967 border phrase with the “complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea”. Is that just referring to the Gaza Strip and West Bank, not either or? Otherwise, the big concerning phrase is the “rejection of the Zionist entity”. It also seems by that last sentence that they want the total dismantling of Israel, but to compromise internally within Palestine, they’re willing to accept merely the 1967 line

RedditRefugee69 ,

An egregious crime should have an egregious sentence but only in accordance with a fair due process. I also feel like far right groups are packing gunpowder in the barrel of the musket with hate for pedophilia (an easy thing for anyone to hate) and are planning to use it to invoke violence on people with fabricated evidence against them. It’s becoming a dangerous powder keg

Judge finds ‘reasonable evidence’ Tesla knew self-driving tech was defective (www.theguardian.com)

A judge has found “reasonable evidence” that Elon Musk and other executives at Tesla knew that the company’s self-driving technology was defective but still allowed the cars to be driven in an unsafe manner anyway, according to a recent ruling issued in Florida....

RedditRefugee69 , (edited )

I get it there’s inevitable interference of interest here but we can’t really tell other people to not do things we don’t like in a free country

Edit: this is clearly being misinterpreted. I am NOT talking about the Tesla. I’m saying a hypothetical, well-regulated self-driving car can be fielded without the permission of every other motorist that thinks they’re icky.

RedditRefugee69 ,

Yeah but that is beyond what anyone would consider reasonable

RedditRefugee69 ,

True about “free country” being used to justify a society controlled by extreme wealth. And I’m talking about another persons right to “drive” a self-driving car next to me. Not about these guys objectively being criminally ass-hole-y

RedditRefugee69 ,

Oh hell yeah if it’s unsafe. I’m making the finer point that saying “you don’t have the right to drive that car next to me cuz it makes me feel weird” is overstepping

RedditRefugee69 ,

I’m saying that you don’t need everyone else’s permission to drive a safety regulated self-driving car. That’s it. I’m not talking about the Tesla

RedditRefugee69 ,

Dude. You’re clearly not understanding the nuance of my point

RedditRefugee69 ,

They said “for some reason it’s legal to push [self driving cars in general] on unwilling participants”. That’s what I’m addressing

RedditRefugee69 ,

I am referring to America which prides itself on freedom (and not enough on equality and collectivism) . I’m just saying it makes legal sense that you don’t need the consent of every other motorist to operate a self-driving car (if it passes safety regulations and assuming no problems of regulatory capture). Both of those assumptions are not applicable here

RedditRefugee69 ,

Ok but I’m a democratic socialist… should be a red flag about the assumptions you’re making

RedditRefugee69 ,

Couldn’t agree more

RedditRefugee69 OP ,

Exactly!

RedditRefugee69 OP ,

I mean that everywhere other than church during church time means most of the people around you are at least not Christian. Also you have short lines at checkout as a reward for your beliefs

RedditRefugee69 OP ,

Yes

RedditRefugee69 OP ,

I think it would be weird if they believed that and they didn’t but I guess there’s all kinds of different brands these days. I have lived a lot of places from Japan to San Diego, to Mississippi. The current small town I’m in is where it’s so pronounced that this occurred to me, but it’s theoretically at least partially true everywhere.

RedditRefugee69 ,

In the interest of knowing how dark the world can become, what happened in the videos? I don’t want to experience it, just respect how bad Warzone and genocides are

RedditRefugee69 ,

SMO = Unprecedentedly unjust and bloody invasion of the sovereign nation of Ukraine

RedditRefugee69 ,

It seems like Tor is just super-incognito mode. Like the for real one

RedditRefugee69 ,

Thank you. Couldn’t have said it better

RedditRefugee69 , (edited )

The only thing I will say is that this can be a bridge behavior. If we at least get them to think with love and caring. If they believe I am going to hell, I at least want them to feel like they wouldn’t do the same if they were in charge

In the internet and isolated from people who have different beliefs, it’s easy to forget that compromise is the only way forward without violence. In this case, not compromising freedom nor equality, but what you’re willing to tolerate in someone else’s beliefs

RedditRefugee69 ,

Look, I completely agree, but what alternative solution are you proposing? Violence? Or do you think memes will change their mind?

RedditRefugee69 ,

There’s space between “it’s against my religion” and “make it illegal for everybody else”. Compromise is the former and leaving it at that
