I predict execs will never see this despite you being correct. We replaced most of our HR department with enterprise GPT-4 and now almost all HR inquiries where I work is handled through a bot. It daydreams HR policies and sometimes deletes your PTO days.

Spotify but only because we are all sharing a family plan and the price makes sense at that point for the convenience.

As soon as Spotify gets rid of family plans and account sharing (just like all other streaming platforms) I’ll sail the seas with Lidarr.

Secret Teams chats that only the ingroup is part of, yet often at all-staff meetings they mention their inside jokes from the chat and then go “oh whoops only some people will understand haha”

Can someone explain to me like I’m cognitively bankrupt how an AI that keeps a behavioural profile on me based on what I search will help with fraud prevention?

Ur not stealing it ur pirating it ;)

We talked about side hustles at work and I was the only one on the team without one. Most of my colleagues do Uber Eats or Uber.

I’ve never ever heard that Israel was the diamond capital of the world. Pretty sure it’s Antwerp.

I had to prepare a high level report to a senior manager last week regarding a project my team was working on.

We had to make 5 professional recommendations off of data we reported.

We gave the 5 recommendations with lots of evidence and references to why we came to that decision.

The top question we got was: “What are ChatGPT’s recommendations?”

Back to the drawing board this week because LLMs are more credible than teams of professionals with years of experience and bachelor-masters level education on the subject matter.

PerogiBoi ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Haha and then the conversation would then be “Yes but can we see ChatGPT’s research?”

All you need to succeed on this planet is the self confidence to say things. It literally does not matter the accuracy. It’s how you express it. I wish I knew this when I was younger. I’d cut out all the imposter syndrome that held me back.

PerogiBoi ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

You joke but several sections of our HR department got cut and replaced with Enterprise GPT-4. We talk to an internal chatbot now about HR questions and some forms.

It did the opposite lmao. I asked it what my vacation leave was because you need to verify leave amounts before you’re allowed to request any additional leave. It said I had 0 in my balance and I know for a fact I have at least a week left 🤪 took almost a month to sort it out. Had to provide balance screenshots and everything. I’d be probably fucked if I hadn’t manually screenshot my leave amounts beforehand.

Appeals Court Bails Trump Out of Having to Post Massive Fraud Bond (www.rollingstone.com)

Donald Trump was supposed to have to post a $464 million bond by Monday or else the state of New York could begin collecting on the massive civil fraud judgment leveled against him earlier this year. An appeals court bailed him out, blocking collection of the judgment and giving the former president 10 days to post a drastically...

I have zero doubt that he will be able to fundraise this amount in the 10 day extension he was given. There are several people I went to high school with (in Ontario) that are actively donating to him.

I wanted to love Wayland but the fact is half of the apps I use are either too small in the UI or too blurry when scaled up. Until that’s fixed I’m staying on x11 begrudgingly.

Check out LM Studio. Totally free and very nice GUI. You can do some very cool things with it. That and Kobold AI. Very simple self hosting no need for configuration either. Download and open essentially.

PerogiBoi ,

NYT is more factually correct than Russia Today, yes. Most news is more factually correct than Russia Today. RT is a kremlin propaganda network. Was that a real question?

PerogiBoi OP ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Ya that was a concern of mine. Even switching from x11 to Wayland causes scaling and some other features to reset for me.

Have you tried Plasma 6?

PerogiBoi OP ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve tried running KDE Neon in a VM and it seems that all Plasma 5 widgets and themes aren’t compatible so they don’t show up in search. Kind of a bummer.

PerogiBoi OP ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

You’re right. Upon further research I found that Plasma 6 is only available on specific distros but apparently it’s still quite buggy.

PerogiBoi OP ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Framework laptop with an AMD chip. I’ve tried Arch, Fedora, and some Debian based distros. Was trying out Neon in a VM but I noticed a lot of things (like theming) wasn’t compatible with the latest KDE version.

I guarantee this will never happen. Manufacturers picked touch screens and capacitive buttons because they are cheaper to produce. There is no way they’re going back to physical controls.

PerogiBoi ,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

I don’t really believe for a moment that a company would care really. They exist to make profits by any means necessary, legal or not. Changing designs requires changes in tooling, processes, and design. That all costs lots of money.

If any design is changed as a result of gov regulations I’ll eat my entire dick.

Everything you listed happened in the past in different political and economic climates. Those changes would never be able to be implemented in today’s climate.

Ya in the past under different political and economic climate. Those changes if suggested today would never pass or be implemented.
