Might want to re-read the Parable of the Talents sometime.

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

I think the moral of that story is that you should at least make a bare minimum effort in order to justify your existence. The Parable of the Wedding feast has a very similar lean: there, a guy gets thrown out of the wedding (after having been invited for free because the original guests wouldn’t come) because he wouldn’t even dress up for it.

The point is, there ARE examples of Jesus cutting people off because they’re not worth his continued investment in them.

Use your god-given talents to feed yourself you moocher" and then gave all the fish and bread to the rich?

That’s literally what the Parable of the Talents is about. Matthew 25:14-30 if you are having trouble finding it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but your point sounds like “the God of YOUR religion better not be telling the God of MY religion what to do.”

Supply Side Jesus isn’t MY concept, in fact, it was Al Franken (yes, the senator) who came up with it.

en.wikipedia.org/…/Lies_and_the_Lying_Liars_Who_T…

beliefnet.com/…/the-gospel-of-supply-side-jesus.a…

Now Franken of course is a Jew, so it’s easy to see why he might have a bone to pick with Christianity.

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

That’s certainly a take.

I mean, I hope I’m not saying anything too controversial here, but I think it’s pretty well understood that one of the major theological differences between Christians and Jews is how they feel about Jesus.

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

Right, which implies that the God of your religion is the state, because that’s who you want to give supreme authority to.

This is how wendigos are made, isn’t it.

A private local LLM. With the on-device context of my notes, messages, calendar, etc, I’m rather excited to have a more personal LLM than ChatGPT.

No need to wait for iOS 18 to have that: llmfarm.site

You realize that Android being too open is a major reason for why it sucks and iOS being more locked down is precisely how they avoided going the same way, right?

A walled garden works because it keeps the weeds out

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah I guess it doesn’t allow access to those things yet although I don’t see why they couldn’t add that in a future release. The APIs for that already exist.

Not a fan of Shkreli but if he bought the record he should be able to make backup copies of it, as long as they’re private

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

Ok I just read it as well and apparently the problem isn’t so much that he made private copies, but rather that he live-streamed the album after having sold it, and now the new owner wants him to destroy those copies to ensure it won’t happen again.

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

If I read the article correctly, the problem isn’t so much that he made copies, but rather that he live-streamed them to the public after selling the album.

If he had just kept them private, no one would have ever known, but now the new owner wants him to delete those copies to ensure he doesn’t do it again.

That’s not illegal, it’s merely unethical.

Oh, looks like I misread that comment.

Well, if we’re going to be pedantic, then this is not a valid comparison to make because it ignores the number of total encounters with bears and men, and the time spent with each.

You joke, but it does appear that the presence of food was likely what attracted the bear in the first place.

That said, she was also 71 and this happened in her home in a tiny town in the Sierra Nevada where bear sightings are not at all uncommon. No word on how she stored her food or whether she kept her doors locked at night.

Yes but can you hate one for hating the other when you hate it as well?

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

It seems a little illogical to hate Elon for hating AI when you also hate it.

MacNCheezus ,

MacNCheezus ,

Which is apparently all of them

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah, I get that. At the risk of overexplaining the joke, I was poking fun at the fact that Lemmy reflexively hates everything Elon does, but in this case, he’s actually expressing a sentiment most Lemmy users would agree with.

MacNCheezus ,
@MacNCheezus@lemmy.today avatar

I think it can be useful but it’s overvalued right now

MacNCheezus OP ,

Have you tried not doing that?

Also, where does it say AM on that sign?
