Pulled a ~ 600 € DeLonghi coffee maker out of the dumpster and invested about 50 € in spare parts (water tank, grounds container, and a new magnet valve). Seems like I have a new coffee machine now 😁☕

(It would have gone even faster and without a puddle on the kitchen counter if I had put in the gaskets from the start. 🤦 Ah well.)

I used to think this too. It just takes a little bit of time to learn the proper technique. Managing heat and a little bit of fat will make them more or less able to be wiped out. I pretty much only use carbon steel and stainless now. I used to use cast iron but I got tired of lugging it around, so it only comes out if I need to sear a steak now.

I remember someone once saying, “hot pan, cold oil, food won’t stick”. So I heat my pan, put a little butter in it. It should sizzle and melt but not brown. If it starts browning then the pan is too hot. Swirl it around a little then add egg. Temperature control is really the biggest factor I’ve found. It’s also ok to take the pan off the burner if it’s too hot. This is especially true if making scrambled eggs.

I have found that I prefer the better temperature control I get from carbon or stainless. Plus they weigh a lot less.

There’s less than 10 kilometers between them and SpaceX has been known to have some go out of their designed orbit. So it has the potential to be and they determined the risk is not worth it.

It’s not easy to read license plates from normal CCTV cameras unless they are pointing at the right spot. I used to install them at gas stations and the owners were almost always surprised by this. The best they can usually get is make, model, and color. Maybe newer cameras are better but I’m guessing the vast majority are using cheap cameras.

Right. And most installs have a wide lens to capture as much as possible. Otherwise, you’d need a lot more cameras and gas station owners are cheap as hell from my personal experience.
