Do you configure your servarr docker containers from one docker-compose file, or individual ones?

I followed trash guides to set everything up blindly and my set up is working well. But, I feel like having jellyfin in the same docker compose as my “arr” services isn’t good. So, I’d be curious to see if I should split things up. I am even wondering if i should let portainer manage everything.

I used to try to run arr stack together, but separately from jellyfin and transmission because I use them not only with arr things

But now I’m using nixos, and having the same dilemma with .nix files

You should check adguard-home for the dns stuff For your questions:

  1. I don’t quite get what you mean. But if you say “my domain’s dns updates regularly, how would one of the clients of the dns get the new IP”, then I would say upstream dns, and maybe pi-hole/adguard have something up their sleeve
  2. In adguard you can have client ids, it can be different things I forgot, but mainly it can be the domain you’re using as dns, so john.dns.mysite.com, and you can give 0.0.0.0 response to every client that is not a client. Maybe there are more clever ways to do this
  3. Yes, but for 1 is not so straightforward, you have many options, you either need to update your dns in some way anyway to connect to VPN, or rent a cloud to host(or port forward) the entry point there (or the theoretical option, some selfhosted vpns allow you to do everything without any ports opened)
  4. Adguard-home, using a public dns, route through tor, cloudflare’s tunnels, host on a cloud, forward ports to a cloud, and many more

And for dynamic IP, I personally use cloudflare(although I don’t trust them) (he-he, I didn’t expect previous point to be so long, I wrote this at the beginning)

Ah, and for the VPN I personally use headscale

Just in case, if you have jellyfin facing the web, jellyfin is not very secure, it has some vunurabilities unpatched for like forever I personally would recommend hiding it behind the VPN, and making it available to everyone at home Or as minimum or a good practice create locations in nginx to block for example logins outside of the VPN or house So to login you need to be at home.or connected to the VPN (useful if you have other people using your services, so they they they can login at home, but continue using everything outside)

About smell being unpleasant, içm not really sure, because i’m not sure how cheese really should smell. For fresh cheeses they just smell like milk, but how should hard cheese smell when drying, after drying, etc

    I was trying to make mozarella and feta

    I usually make mozarella pretty often, but didn’t make for a while, and mymaimn problem with making cheese is that i’m a 200% person, so if I do something the ground is shaking 🤪

    And it really doesn’t work with curds, I always add too much of everything and mix it really really well, when shouldn’t

    The other one was feta, at least I started making it, realized I don’t have the cultures and started improvising, and just mixed both, boiled and hung

    Anyway, the final cheese tastes like the best cheese I’ve ever made, I was really impressed
