He was pretty great on Curb Your Enthusiasm as well.

Man did not know he was attacked in 2022 with a knife…

GONADS125 ,

I’ve known this was coming for a few years after the CEO of my previous mental health employer told us he wanted to grow the company large enough to compete with Amazon who were going to be entering the primary care and mental healthcare field. He also warned of Walmart following suit.

It was a hard pill to swallow and I hoped he was wrong, but here we are… It’s going to be a scary time if monopolies like Amazon and Walmart strangle out real providers and fuck up our healthcare industry even worse. We need these fuckers to have this fail spectacularly to preserve the industry.

GONADS125 ,

Right!?..

I have joked for years that we are living in a simulation and in 2016, they cranked up the satire and absurdity levels. Then in 2020, they cranked up the suffering factor, but left satire and absurdity turned up.

It has seriously felt like living in The Onion universe these last few years.

GTA 6’s Publisher Says Video Games Should Theoretically Be Priced At Dollars Per Hour (www.forbes.com)

While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.

I used to feed that to my GSDs but the high levels of protein in such food can potentially lead to health complications, especially if the dog is overweight/not extremely active. Here is some information on high protein dog foods. If a dog has kidney or liver issues, filtering out excessive amounts protein can put additional strain on those organs and exacerbate the issues.

Unless they changed their formula, Taste of The Wild falls into this category, and I was instructed to switch dog food. It may not have been related, but my older dog that had eaten it for years did end up going out really bad with kidney failure…

This was a few years back, so they may have changed their formula. But it’s worth looking into it yourself. I’d hate for anyone to go thru that. You have to be so careful with dog treats too… There are regularly products on the market with poisonous ingredients, especially on Amazon and from China…

Anyway, hopefully they’ve changed their formula but I just have to stress to double check. My poor guy didn’t deserve to go out that way.

After watching the episode of Untold Stories of the ER where a homeless lady with a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder made a series of incisions, stuffed them with dirt, and put earthworms inside them; someone eating potting soil wouldn’t surprise me…

The lady had names for each of the worms and would not let the doctors remove them, until they had maintenance bring them of dirt for each worm. The worms were put in individual containers which were labeled according to the names she had for each worm.

Edit: Found a clip!

That’s an appeal to tradition; a logical fallacy.

GONADS125 ,

I’m not invested in this topic argument. I was just interested in highlighting your logical fallacy.

Critical thinking and logic has been on a decline in modern societies, and I believe it’s important to point it out so that hopefully people learn to refine their beliefs/illogical thinking tendencies.

I’m sure you can make logical points in an argument advocating for farming in the desert. But that doesn’t change the fact that your previous argument explicitly used a logical fallacy and therefore is invalid.

Again, I’m not interested in debating this subject, so you’d be wasting your time trying to convince me of your perspective. I was just trying to help you improve your arguments/promote logical thinking.

Adidas says it may write off remaining unsold Yeezy shoes after breakup with Ye (apnews.com)

Adidas said it might have to write off the remaining 300 million euros ($320 million) worth of Yeezy shoes left unsold after it cut ties with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. The company will decide in the coming weeks whether or not to do a third release of the shoes next year to generate more donations to groups...

Even if BPM is affected by non-combustion, it doesn’t mean the carcinogens, particulates, lack of oxygen, and benzene from combustion couldn’t play a key role in the cardiovascular health problems in the studies.

GONADS125 , (edited )

Important to note that the population of the study all had a history of cardiovascular health issues, and were not representative of the rest of the population.

Also important to note is the failure to assess a distinction between combustion and non-combustion consumption.

Combusting marijuana results in particulates, carcinogens [1], lack of oxygen, and off-gasses benzene. [2] These are very important factors to control for, and this distinction was not addressed at all.

Definitely in need of further studies on the topic. This is an interesting area to explore, but this study falls a little flat in addressing any causation.

If you’re vaping BHO extracted products/products with added terpenes, then you are doing damage to your lungs. Dry herb vaping and live rosin excluded.

You have to be so careful with the extraction methods and diluent agents when it comes to vaping concentrates (that includes regulated vape carts–not just black market carts).

[Cannabis] extracts are not diluted in propylene glycol or glycerol like nicotine due to their hydrophobic properties. Instead, various forms of oils including vegetable oils, terpenes, and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E acetate) have been reported as diluents. In most reported cases of EVALI, additional flavoring additives are also added to products.

Although many of these diluent agents and flavorings have been “generally recognized as safe” for oral ingestion by the FDA, recent research shows that when heated to form an aerosol and inhaled, conditions including bronchitis, bronchiolitis, acute hypoxic respiratory distress, lipoid-associated pneumonia, and pneumonitis may result. [1]

The terpenes used in vape carts to dilute and reintroduce flavor and aroma (which is lost in some extraction methods, like BHO) also produces harmful byproducts when vaped. [2]

Another problem with cheap vape pens and e-cigs is the cheap atomizers/coils used. There have been confirmed cases of these coils/atomizers leeching heavy metals into the vapor produced.[3]

It’s always important to consider the risk-mitigation approach, but a lot of people don’t comprehend that not all vaping concentrates/methods are equal, and some should absolutely be avoided.

GONADS125 ,

You can look at my comment above.

BHO extracted products and ones that use additional terpenes for flavor/as a diluent agent should be avoided. This does not only apply to black market/vitamin E acetate containing carts. This very much includes mainstream carts available on the shelves of dispensaries.

Maybe he was a redditor who watched as every subreddit became an r/AdviceAnimals and r/funny clone, where relevant discussion was buried under the same lame ass jokes on every post.

When morons posted r/funny material in r/nonononoyes, but were too ignorant to understand how that was a problem, this example was usually helpful:

Do you think it’s okay for r/wtf material to be posted in r/awww or r/EyeBleach? If r/TheOnion posts were posted in r/WorldNews?

There exist different communities for a reason. This is so obvious it’s painful to imagine how some people can’t grasp such a simple concept.

Why should the boundaries of the two different communities with different purposes errode? Because of laziness? Stupidity? What’s the point of even having communities if people just post the wrong content?

When you’re at a grocery store, are you one of the jackasses who decides “Actually, I don’t want this steak” and just set it on some random unrefriderated shelf in the wrong section?

This is the type of bad user behavior that turned reddit to shit.

GONADS125 ,

This is why we can’t have nice things… On reddit, so many subs lost their purposes and became shit-posting clones and circle-jerks.

Too many of the toxic redditors migrated here, and the same shitty user behavior is happening here too.

I’m not a fan of repetitive memes and circle-jerking. My blocked communities list is like 50% shit-posting communities and 50% anime communities.

Here's what a random person on the internet thought of The Outer Worlds (lemmy.world)

I played the Steam version of the base game, with no DLC. I did not play the Spacer’s Choice “remaster” as it has a reputation for being broken and poorly put together. I played the game to completion on normal difficulty, completing most of the side quests, spending time with all my companions, and trying to get the most...

GONADS125 ,

I agree with this, and it contributed to my losing interest. I also found the gameplay way too stale and stopped playing when I was almost done with the 3rd world.

I didn’t feel invested in or care about any of the companions or their story arcs either. They didn’t feel relatable or like real people.

I had high hopes for the Outer Worlds, but it just felt generic and boring to me. It felt like a cross between Fallout New Vegas and Borderlands, but without the charm of either franchise.

GONADS125 ,

You say you stopped at FO3. Have you tried FNV?

I always preferred the story of 3, but the gameplay of NV had quality of life improvements and way better gun-play.

I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot if you haven’t.

GONADS125 ,

This line from New Vegas is my favorite line from any game in the series.

So hilarious given the additional context and dialogue in the game.

GONADS125 ,

I 100% agree with you. I was downvoted a lot of times years ago saying about as much on reddit. I like the iron-sights and some mechanics of NV that 3 didn’t have, but the storyline in 3 was so much better.

In 3, there was a tremendous core story that you played a pivotal role in and had a grand sense of purpose. But in NV, you’re just a random courrier doing random tasks and just kinda meandering around for “revenge” which comes and goes pretty anticlimacticly. And then you get to decide which factions to support in a battle that’s going to happen regardless.

In NV, it feels more like the player character is a side-character in the main story’s plot. In Fallout 3, you were the main plot.

GONADS125 ,

You’ve obviously not worked with people who don’t bathe, groom or clean their living spaces. That’s not efficiency; it’s dysfunction.

GONADS125 ,

It isn’t always due to mental illness or intellectual limitations. I’ve worked with people who simply didn’t care about hygiene, grooming, or keeping up with their living spaces. Individuals who admitted themselves they were too lazy to put effort into things, and they were okay with that lifestyle.

Their guardians, families and care facility staff weren’t okay with it tho. Yes, it was severe dysfunction that is more than what someone normally thinks of with laziness. But there are people who simply are severely dysfunctionally lazy.

I’m not referring in relation to mental illness, chronic fatigue syndrome, or cognitive limitations. This may not seem politically correct, but these people exist and you could ask anyone from my previous employer, or my past clients themselves.

GONADS125 ,

If you say so. But I would venture to guess you don’t know more than the diagnosticians with their extensive testing.

Absolutely not self-medicating tho. They were in controlled environments and while drugs would occasionally enter the RCFs/ALFs, it was easy to spot and test for.

I’m not saying these people did not have dysfunctional behavior. But they did not have any diagnosis related to their self-indulging laziness. Some people are overachievers and others are extremely lazy. What I’m describing is more a personality trait and likely influenced by their upbringing.

GONADS125 , (edited )

Working with their families and court-appointed guardians and having access to their medical and treatment history, diagnostic testing, etc.

I also always had great rapport with my clients, and was often the only person my clients would be totally honest with.

I’m sure people may read this thinking I’m a callous judgemental prick, but I was able to provide 100% non-judgmental empathetic reflective listening and maintaining the therapeutic alliance as people confided to me a grotesque murder they committed, the abuse they suffered, child abuse they inflicted…

I was the one on my team given the challenging cases and individuals who were notoriously difficult to work with, had borderline intellectual functioning, or were volatile and threatening.

The laziness I’m referring to is a personality trait; not a symptom of mental illness or trauma.

I downvote that type of meme humor because I don’t find it adds to discussion. Even if I agree with the person, I downvote them every time.

Up/downvotes are meant for promoting relevant discussion and suppressing off-topic content, spam, trolls, and hate. They are not and were never intended to be dis/agreement buttons. People just misuse them.

The burden of proof is on the one who is staking claims.

You can be devoid of religion and mysticism and function fine. Religion is not a requirement of spiritual health or spiritual beliefs, which can be as simple as a perceived interconnectedness with the universe.

That other user’s response may have seemed brash, but I agree with his use of the literal philosophical term: bullshit.

This was taught to me in philosophy courses. There’s lying, bullshitting, and most heinous is mind-fucking. Those terms were written on the board and I was tested on them.

You made a bullshit claim. One that was bold, sweeping, and completely lacking supporting evidence. You cannot turn around now and demand others prove your claim wrong. The burden of proof is on you.

GONADS125 ,

What’s laughable is you continuing to talk out of your ass and now talking down to someone who’s educational background is in psychology. I only took philosophy courses as a second passion.

You need to follow your own advice and read. And maybe take a critical thinking course from even a community college in your area.

Also, I wasn’t being a dick; you’re just hypersensitive. If you made a lie and I called out a lie, that’s not being a dick. Here, all I did was call out bullshit and point out that the burden of proof is on you. Just because you don’t like what I tell you, it doesn’t mean I’m being an asshole.

GONADS125 ,

It’s a decent introductory breakdown of bullshit. It’s based on the published 1986 piece “On Bullshit” and you can follow the citations.

Here’s another source on the topic.

Here’s the Oxford reference.

From Plato.

Or if you want to drop $10, you can buy the actual On Bullshit publication from Princeton.

GONADS125 ,

I’m not convinced from that comment that the user they’re referring to is a tankie, but simply put, I’d describe a tankie as the alt-left equivalent of the alt-right.

They’re not quite as violent in my opinion, but they push pro-china/russia propoganda and misinformation, and are just as self-deluded and delusional as the alt-right. I’ve also seen tankies justify Hamas’ attack against Isreal, which I find inexcusable and morally reprehensible. The same can be said of the IDF’s genocide against innocent Palestinians.

Tankies are on the fringe and are just on the other end of the bell curve of the alt-right.
