But I listened to all the "sensible" people and went for a graduate level program instead like an idiot, and then couldn't do anything with it for a litany of reasons. Just one family emergency or health problem after another.

The worst of all maybe could have been avoided if I hadn't been off at school in the first place. I don't regret college, but my education should have stopped there. I was finally an adult, but I still let everyone else dictate my life, right from the getgo.

And now, most cider is kinda crap, and is going to give you a hangover. Its so difficult to ensure that you get a good drinking experience for your friends when trying to share with them the wonders of America's first brew of patriots.

The South at least keeps the dream alive with iced tea that it doesn't oversteep. (that's how you can tell if somewhere is Southern, btw- if they both have iced tea and don't brew it to bitter hell) But its still not a proper American fixation on reasonably priced tea!

Technically, random race/class/etc upon a new life is really more common with Roguelites. (You kinda acknowledge that, but roll with me. Trying to be facetious with the Roguelike snobbery thing, not sure if I pulled it off lol)

Traditional Roguelikes usually let you pick what kind of fresh Hell you're setting yourself up for.

...So maybe this is Roguelike rules.

You fuckin chose your species, religion, and class.
Just not how much food you get to eat, what books you get the chance to read (without tremendous effort on your part) and when you will die.

Happy cartoons!

I'm sure you've heard of Bluey by now. Its so good, wholesome, and heartfelt. Everyone's watching, regardless of age.

Here's one of my favorites for happy feels: Kipper the Dog
Its a Pre-K show that's just super chill and pleasant. Feels like a warm blanket and cocoa. This one is definitely more for children, but its ok to indulge your inner child and tell it that things are okay.

For a more sophisticated palette, Hilda is the most criminally underrated animated mainstream cartoon in recent memory... that somehow got a full run regardless!
Three seasons and a movie on Netflix. Its beautiful and kid appropriate but definitely for all ages, and pretty damn serious a lot of the time. But its still rather uplifting in how a lot of things aren't problems, because Hilda is so spirited and determined in a way you can truly believe in.

My little Pony, new and old, really does the trick for me, but its not for everyone, of course. Pound Puppies and A Pup Named Scooby Doo also hit that vibe, though of the old shows mentioned, its probably the best written. (Never got into Care Bears, but it could probably work too, if you're looking for Sunshine and Rainbows)

Do remember- it really is trying to help. Negative self talk really is a useful social animal trait that's just going a bit haywire, so figure out what its trying to do and be nice to it.

Also, pain can be experienced first as emotional distress, especially if its pain you've lived with for a long time, and its just hurting extra bad.

Sometimes its easier to do self-care when you picture it as outside of yourself.
So when you're really feeling like shit, try acknowledging its concerns, rational or irrational, and then tell your little red cat its doing a good job and its safe to take a nap.

It isn't a magic fix, but its an actual process to go through. And that feels better than just stewing.

One time, at band camp in college, for April Fool's, someone placed a Ton of sheets of adhesive googly eyes on the bulletin boards around campus.

They didn't stick them on anything, they just made a bunch of little slips of eyes available and let the magic happen.

I have a little collection of car critters that I keep on rotation, all with pun names.

Just one out at a time, I don't like the clutter, but when I feel sad, I'll sort through a few and put 'em on the spot on my dash.

I've given out more than a few to people when they've needed them more than me, like my little pa-car-isu to the girl who was stressed out about getting her blood drawn, or my cArcanine to a boy who was having trouble waiting quietly with his mom and baby brother.

I choose to try not to pirate, and thus this kinda thing absolutely pisses me off because this is so disingenuous, because I dig into the nitty gritty of how to do all this stuff legit.

Randomizers alone make Nintendo games in particular so much more alive, and all but require the use of ripping software and quite often emulators.
These emulators can make even current titles look even more beautiful and play more smoothly than their native platform, too.

Yeah, people are going to pirate using this stuff, but its wrong to treating the tools themselves as being inherently bad. They are quite often used by people who care very much about these games, and do give fair financial support to Nintendo.

I mean, I know you're looking for piracy sources, but the 3D printing sphere is pretty much full of tech hippies.

This may go against the spirit of this server and all, but if you're just looking to print for personal use, there's a very real possibility that you can just ask.

I've hit up a few people before, stating that I wanted to print their STLs for my own personal use and sometimes they said no, but more than half the time, they just let me have it.

Usually something like:

"Hey, your project looks really great! I've been on a bit of a tight budget lately, but I do have my old printer and some filament lying around- would it be possible to get a copy of your STL files pro bono?
I would love to get my hands on it, and will definitely post a make to your page!"
(It definitely helps if you have some quality finished product images, so you're kinda free advertising for them)

I don't make the personal choice to pirate, (and I'm not here to judge) but I figured my kinda approach still may suit your needs.

Not totally related, but in the mid 2000s, I had thought that being made an NPC in a video game was a really kind honor- that someone probably really cared about you.
(usually if they didn't, you'd get relegated to a humiliating gag or antagonist. Technically also NPCs, I guess, but not what you think of as "NPC")

...And then the internet went and turned NPC into an insult.

Makes me feel sad for all those loving tributes and Make a Wish kids.

The Frog Detective series is pleasant, light, and overall delightful. Feels like a slightly more grownup Humongous Games kinda title.

And I do have to check- Did you play the Manhunter games?
They're super overlooked for Sierra titles, (and some lists don't seem to mention them) but they're still authentic old school adventure game.
Super cheezy though.

Howdy. I wanted a central place for information surrounding smartphone keyboards since there have been some changes recently to a few of them. I hope to keep this post afloat over the long term so we can share experiences, information, news, etc to find the perfect smartphone keyboard for ourselves and help others do the same....

I use Gboard with the one handed option always enabled, so I can keep my keyboard exactly where I want it on the screen.

Some health issues make excessive keystrokes painful, and my phone is big enough already. I have it adjusted to about the keyboard size of a Galaxy S2 on screen keyboard, and to the right.

I keep Hacker's Keyboard if I ever wind up playing something old school, though I usually wind up playing Pathos if I get an itch for NetHack on the go.

If anyone has a good option for keyboards you can force to keep on top for Accessability/gaming purposes, though, let me know.
