The social norm is constructed: not naturally occurring but created by the society in which it is found.
Hence there are no actions which in themselves are inherently #abnormal or universally condemned by all societies at all times. Deviance is thus situational and contextual.

We start off with Tracey A. Sowerby who many of you already know from her many publications and conferences that she organised. On the international scene, she really put #emdiplomacy and its cultural aspects back on the map.
She especially focusses on #diplomatic cultures, on #gender and #earlymodern#diplomacy and cross-confessional #diplomacy.
In 2021, she edited a volume on diplomatic cultures at the Ottoman Court.

Which flavor of #neurodivergent is inability to feel belonging to any group? I think, I finally got why I don’t get that #gender thing. Basically, a gender is just another cohort, with some assumed properties. A group one feels belonging to. And I have never felt as a part of any group. I never fit in. Each cohort is supposed to have certain properties, and I just never have all. I just feel like impostor in any, including any gender/sexuality groups, including #agender#queer#nd#AuDHD
@olena I would associate that with being #ActuallyAutistic and I think it’s partly why I consider my #gender from a physiological standpoint. When I consider it from a social and sexual perspective, there’s a lot more ambiguity. Is this due to my difficulty with #social constructs or a connection with them I don’t #perceive? This results in a loop I have to terminate and then tend to avoid. I accept others’ gender expression at face value but I default to #cismale. @actuallyautistic
Everything in this story is leading somewhere amazing. It's emotional, beautiful, touching, surprising and so incredibly moving. Sniffed, snuffled and out and out cried my way through the last part of this book.

Like her other two brilliant novels of #historicalFiction, she shows she has done the research and thinking and internalized the stories and feelings of the time and place as well as the relentless control and persecution of the feminine and the 'other'. This 3rd novel is personal for Kent. Highly recommend it.
