Just got back from seeing .

So, it was good. Very emotional roller coaster. I thought my son was bored but he wasn’t antsy to leave. As we were walking out, he shared that he really liked it. It certainly felt authentic.

The story is focused more on a family and inter-generational perspective, which I think will make it more acressivle and relatable to a broader audience.

It’s things like this that remind me when someone is super intent that I know they’re a “certified professional” and feeding me opinions as fact.

It still amazes me how commonly scientific papers posit [paraphrase] "Advanced maternal age increases risk of gestational development of autism" when, RIGHT THERE for the grasping is the possibility that autistic ladies who get the chance to actually think about it before getting pregnant... decide to hold off for a bit.
And THEN have autistic babes with their gene parts.

Just as possible.

@anomalon Since I’m sure we personally know so many counterexamples, I always keep a shredder or delete button handy for such “scientific” “studies.” 🤣

My mom was 19 and our son’s egg donor and surrogate were 22 and 30. So yeah I’m sure advanced age had something to do with being ! Heh

Yep, the social oppression is upon us once again. I lately ignore it. My son is unable to escape it at school though. Teacher sent email to parents indicating students would need to make one for every student, lest anyone be left out, but they can’t provide us a list due to privacy. So please produce X cards with “class peer” as the name! How awfully useless!

Son decides he hasn’t the spoons for X generic cards. 👍👍👍

@actuallyautistic Who has disappointed you the most since coming out as ?
My family's reaction was depressingly expected. However, it's close friends looking down on me and then fading away that really hurt.
Looking at you, Matthew Bingham.

@sebwhatever My only disappointment is how some react to my son, focusing on behavior and not considering the circumstances aren’t typical. As he learns to better cope and I remind them, it’s gotten better. It takes more time with some to reset their assumptions.

With some, he retreats to back rooms for solitude. They wonder why. I know. I lived it as a kid myself.

Tuesday was exciting. Worked a health expo at work for our ND employee group. Dropped husband off at airport. Son decided to inspect the inside of a Lithium Ion battery.

Yes, it outgassed and filled his room with smoke. Alarms. testing and cleanup. It’s been… exciting. 🤣

Thank you to https://regasgroup.com/ and https://restorex.biz/ !

as long as society in general has the ability and incentive to call the cops on anyone acting 'weird' I will not be safe to exist outside of my home.

@GreenRoc I regularly have “the talk” with my son, who already has a bone to pick with trigger happy cops. Please goddess let his drive for self-preservation overcome unfiltered sharing when his time in front of a gun arrives. 🙏🙏

I know I shouldn’t be nervous but I am. Son is attending birthday, and they’ll be playing laser tag. But parents are DROPPING OFF their kids, which is something very unusual for those of us with kiddos! I suggested and then all parents left phone numbers juuust in case.

It seems like a simple milestone but I’m actually anxious about it. Probably more than him!
