Downloaded that torrent, thought it was weird that it triggered my AV. Usually I just assume it’s a crack file or something, and even Windows defender will say it’s a “game crack” file or something on the threat information.
However, BG3 being released on GoG I found it odd… And it wasn’t even detected as a game crack file or wtv it’s called. Ended up downloading one uploaded by InsaneRamZes which ALSO was detected by AV…
I’ve ended up downloading about 4~5 clients to finally find one that didn’t trigger it… The amount of trash that was going around is insane.
The one I finally found that doesn’t have a virus was from a private tracker. (which was the RUNE release)
Edit: Just checked on 1337x and this one that I had from InsaneRamZes has also been removed it seems. I can’t actually find a BG3 full game torrent on there atm… But I did manage to add the tracker to my private tracker’s RUNE download so I’ll be sharing with you all too 🤝

Why don’t they ever name “the chemical”? And then they switch to the 2 chemicals later in the article. All I found was this article trying to Google it although I didn’t go too deep.
This is really oddly written. I almost expected it to end with some kind of gotcha and “the chemical” was water.
Chinese piracy is …odd. But generally speaking, yes they love to pirate shit. Most disc movies over there are counterfeits, not official. So most home media purchases are pirated.
People are able to get past the firewall pretty easily, the same information needed for P2P is needed to get past the great firewall. So if you’re able to get past the firewall, you’re probably able to download games without being caught. Separate from the great fire wall, Android is by far the most used operating system in Asia as a continent. There is a constant flow of apps like 4Shared and Zedge that provide access to pirated content with pretty much no barriers and they succeed quite well in China.
Piracy over there is pretty much a norm, whether you’re knowingly pirating or not. Linus Tech Tip’s Chinese channel is ran by Chinese pirates that the company hired eventually. But the Chinese front for that channel is literally just some random guys that started downloading the videos, translating them and posting them for the ad revenue. Sure the viewers may not have known it was pirated, but the viewers were still technically pirating 🤷♀️

So would you tell the people who were in the Japanese anti war movement that they should have done more or is there a point where you accept that sometimes the system is just too big for citizens to stop it?
It’s easy to act like a hero behind a keyboard, when confronted to the prospect of having to choose between our life and the life of a stranger in another country, the vast, vast majority will sacrifice the stranger and if I had to bet on it I would bet you would do the same because the odds would be in my favor. Heck, it’s a choice we make every day by purchasing crap made in third world country instead of spending more on stuff made locally, including whatever device you’re typing on.
Weirdly, I feel like the best argument to free will comes from Dr. Malcolm (famously acted in a pervy way by Jeff Goldblum) who talked about chaos theory. Complex systems have an underlying order. But also, the reverse of that is true, in that simple systems can lead to complex behaviour. Or to borrow a subreddit term, “never tell me the odds.”
I started daily driving Linux since I left school this year and used it before but mainly windows because school wanted us to run Word, Teams, etc. Today I wanted to play games and haven’t set up my device for gaming and didn’t want to download the game twice (good internet). I think it is more gentle when you actually use the OS, but OP says they don’t use it a lot. I basically don’t use Windows a lot for so many reasons, but in the odd occasion I need to use it, it’s like OP’s experience. There are so many updates and the thing insists on installing them, or you think it’s gonna be okay to install them --accostumed to pacman, apt or whatever. If you agree or click on Install updates as they recommend, there you go into the rabbit hole of Windows updates.
I feel nearly alone in preferring connect. It’s still a bit glitchy but definitely very usable and above all: clean. I feel like the other apps all have a bunch of texts sizes and visuals I don’t need. Connect just feels like a cleaned up reddit UI to me. If boost ever comes out I may switch to it, but I’ve already been feeling like connect is what the UI “should” look like. Others feel oddly busy to me

Because Apple’s core business is selling their stuff to you. Google’s core business is selling you to other companies.
Google’s consumer software and products literally serve no other business purpose than surveillance to figure out how to turn you into a more lucrative advertising target.
Apple has realized they can capitalize on this by making privacy a core selling feature for their stuff — one that Google cannot challenge them on as privacy is directly at odds with the core premise of their entire business.
Why even bother with a Quantum Leap-style parallel dimension? “For seemingly no reason, your reality melts around you. Pastel colors dripping from everything you see as the sky is ripped apart in vortex of oddly specific pumpkin-spice latte swirls. Your skin bubbles and warps as your DNA is shredded, re-built, and shredded again morphing you into a grotesque, unfamiliar…Karen.”
Screw the PTA President quest. It looks like a main quest, but it’s the minor gas station attendent you’re ultra rude to that has the power to send you home.
I used a similar setup once in the Appalachians. The back wall was fortunately still standing. I had been backpacking for 3 days and hadn’t gone once, so I was backed up, but all that activity kept it loose. The view was absolutely beautiful. The open walls let in a fresh breeze, so no outhouse smell at all. Once I forced myself to get over the awkwardness of the exposure and just go, it all came together. Best Shit Of My Life. 20 odd years later that dump still ranks among the most sublime moments I have ever experienced.

I’m going to throw a curve ball here and say yes, obviously the purpose of a gun is to kill things. Americans have an inherent right to self defense through use of arms, which is the entire purpose of the 2nd amendment. Killing animals for food is of course another common task, along with livestock protection, but self defense against other humans using force was enshrined in the Bill of Rights. The founders thought about the fact that these arms could be used in crime and violence, and decided that freedom comes with risk and it was worth that risk. The country was founded on principles that the government is not there to provide perfect safety to all individuals and to dictate their lives, but instead set ground rules and let people live their lives however they see fit. There are consequences for actions, not preventing all actions with negative consequences. There’s a reason that the phrase “those who give up freedom for safety deserve neither” is such a famous (or infamous) quote in America.
Many people may feel they do not need to protect themselves with force of arms in modern society and would prefer more safety over more freedom, but until such time as over 3/4s of the population agree to cede their right to self defense to the government and change the 2nd with an overriding amendment, these tools are doing the job they are designed for. This argument that cars and knives and what have you serve another purpose so it’s “different” just strikes me as odd. Hell, the amount of people killed by cars when killing people is in fact the opposite of it’s purpose, is more concerning if you think about it because cars kill so many more people than the guns that are actually designed specifically for killing. But to do that we need to limit cars to traveling at 35mph and have internal and external airbags and giant soft air tube tires that can safely run over people without causing harm, but no one is advocating to make laws mandating such and no one would buy a car like that if it was available.
I think gun safety training should be mandatory as part of the US education system starting from the beginning of school. There are more guns than people in the US, so odds are good that many children will come into contact with them at some point, and they should know what they are and how to be safe. Unfortunately, the left acts like this will indoctrinate children towards being pro guns like the right thinks sex education will make kids have sex. Leaving these basic life knowledge “up to the family” to teach is just such a shitty idea.
The issue of licensing is tricky because unlike driving a car, gun ownership is a constitutional right and we do not have a good track record of being fair and equitable when we make practicing rights require any “cost of entry”. Other than that and as has been mentioned already, many places require licenses and extra training to concealed carry, and if you are reckless with guns or just even with criminal behavior you can lose your gun rights.
Also, even if mass shootings just weren’t a thing I think having trauma kits along with AEDs in public areas is just good practice, and adding hostile attacker drills to existing fire, earthquake, tornado, etc drills is also probably good practice. The more emergency situations people are even somewhat trained to “handle”, the better they react to both known and unknown emergencies. When the brain is overwhelmed in an emergency, having any ingrained reflex your subconscious can fall back on prevents freezing or panicked random action.
Yeah I kinda get the theory behind that but the reality I feel is completely at odds when considering your massively populous areas. Also how often are people defending themselves against wildlife? I’m really curious actually as I have no idea on the stats about this.

individually the door has that 1:2 chance, but the scenario has more context and information and thus better odds. Choosing scenario B over scenario A is a better wager
Both of these are infinite, but the set of numbers containing odd numbers is by definition smaller than the set of numbers containing all integers, because it doesn’t have the even numbers.
This is provably false - the two sets are the same size. If you take the set of all integers, and then double each number and subtract one, you get the set of odd numbers. Since you haven’t removed or added any elements to the initial set, the two sets have the same size.
The size of this set was named Aleph-zero by Cantor.
I don’t understand how this relates to the problem. Yes 50 percent is greater than 33 percent, but that’s not what the Monty hall problem is about. The point of the exercise is to show that when the game show host knowingly (and it is important to state that the host knows where the prize is) opens a door, he is giving the contestant 33 percent extra odds.
He is an odd ball. Really glad the people who bred him didn’t do the ear and tail clipping thing, those big saucers make so much of his personality! We were his foster home after his owner had an accident and couldn’t give him up, our kitties like him a lot too.
