Although there are relatively few accounts on Mastodon that have follower numbers in the hundreds of thousands, it seems likely that if a well-curated BBC World News account was created, it would become one of them. And while that audience would be still be smaller than BBC's audience on other social media platforms, there are many folks here that aren't on the other sites.
@BBC_News_Labs@winstonsmith Please, please do! Right now, anyone who wants to get BBC news in their Mastodon feed has to follow bots, not an official account, and would happily follow official accounts. Not only that, when official accounts join, bot accounts try to transfer their followers over and post letting people know about official accounts (that’s what happened when Ars Technica made an official Mastodon account).
At least one news account would give you a lot more real interaction.
I agree, We do have the Information and Discussion thread pinned, so probably put the matches as comments, but they will be rendered slightly different than normal comments. But if @HyperCube is fine with it he can post the matches in there for the time being.
Whatever works well for you guys. Having alot of posts is fine, as it should engage more people I think, even though not everyone is interested in it.
I went to sign some books at Woodstock's The Golden Notebook bookshop today and they gave me this book as a thank you. Two hours later her death was announced.
@neilhimself I had a similar experience, I tagged her page to share a 1998 news clip that featured a photo of Sinead showing up at small pub in Boston, and another of my friend and myself together, 2 weeks later Sinead crossed over. RIP Sinead. 🌼 Have you read her book yet?
Bisher waren alle Rennen Zeitrennen. Ich mache sie auch nur einmal, um mehr über Geschichte von Maurice zu hören.
Zum Glück muss man sie dafür auch nicht erfolgreich abschließen.
I made a Magazine called Photobiomodulation (https://kbin.social/m/photobiomodulation/) for the discussion of this topic on the Fediverse. I've left Reddit behind, and am recreating this community here.
For the last few months our team has been working on an entirely automated AI-powered news site. I am excited to announce that v1.0 is finally being released. This version includes full coverage with every article generated from 2 left leaning, 2 right leaning, and 2 neutral sources. We have also added an anonymous commenting system for people to share their opinions freely. Our servers are now running 24/7 so that new articles appear as they happen! Let me know what you guys think, as well as any comments/concerns/questions you have!
You posted this to programmerhumor, am I to assume this site is satire? The site doesn't look like it, so if I'm taking you at face value, I couldn't disagree any harder about your mission. What makes you think anyone wants "2 right leaning" sources? Breitbart, OANN, Newsmax, New York Post, and Fox News are all pushing fascism narratives, to say nothing of the mockery you are making of professional journalism. You gonna start writing articles with them as your sources?
This is something my wife always complains about, so much so that I’ve gotten a kagi account and set up a specific search category for gardening that bans certain sites and excludes hits where words contain American spelling. One thing that might be interesting is a list of translated gardening resources from other nearby countries. I’m sure the flora and fauna in the rest of North-West Europe can’t be that different?
Here’s an example: I translated the phrase “my hawthorn will not bloom” into French and searched for the resulting phrase. Found a website and translated it back to English: www-jardiner--malin-fr.translate.goog/…/amp?_x_tr…
Same it true the other way. Federation only only works with text and images are pulled from the original instances and there seems to be an issue with that.
