Plugins for fediverse platforms.

Where is this up to? Is anyone thinking along these lines?

I've seen @db0 espouse such (eg https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/comment/8581651) (sorry for the tag if annoying).

I've certainly thought of it myself ... because it's a pretty obvious idea for an ecosystem aiming for richness and sustainability.

Seems a perfect fit for reusable moderation tooling too, rather than each new platforms having that trouble.

This is essentially 's idea it seems.

When it comes to moderation tooling I’m honestly a little confused that there isn’t more work or noise around a developing a sideloaded tool.

Yeah we just need volunteers to dedicate their time to it. But it’s a lot easier to complain than it is to contribute.

Anyone knows how to properly start a multiseat wayland with a desktop environment or window manager running?

I just need simple stuff such as profile initialization of the user and if it's possible to just share the same discrete GPU across multiple seats?

The end result? I want to isolate my current user space from the gaming space where I can just connect using moonlight/sunshine. I want it all headless.

IIRC it wasn’t the signal protocol, just the encryption methods that were shared with WhatsApp. I don’t think federation was ever on the cards.

3 Tremml-Werner: Multiple Actors and Pluralistic Practices: Non-European Perspectives on Early Modern Diplomatic Relations (1/10)

https://doi.org/10.1515/9783110672008-003

emdiplomacy OP ,
@emdiplomacy@hcommons.social avatar

Appearing in various places around the globe, treaties are not only concluded between polities who share a similar idea of sovereignty or territorial rights, which does not disqualify them as instruments of The issue about intercultural treaties leads to the question of whether these agreements had an equal or unequal character. Clearly, different forms of unequal treaties existed from the seventeenth century onwards – colonial treaties and the unequal imperialist treaties implemented with Asian empires such as China, Japan or the Ottomans. In Canada, for example, the British crown concluded dozens of treaties with the indigenous populations with regard to settlements and land rights. Indigenous agency within these processes has often been overlooked in the study of these treaty negotiations. (9/10)

Tremml-Werner demands more exchange between studies of European diplomatic history and that of other world regions and academic traditions to integrate native and indigenous sources and voices more balanced and to understand the rise of diplomacy as a result of global processes. (10/10)

What the new tech creator-content platforms and economy miss

Adam Neely on "quitting " puts two ideas together (that I hadn't) and implicitly asks "what if the new platform/economy fails you"

Longevity and freedom from traditional gatekeepers. The content-creator economy fails on these promises.

Burn out is baked in and ignoring the traditional gate-keepers is at your own very serious risk.

The world is the same, tech is just milking us.

@maegul @workreform I've been referring to this as "the single platform creator trap" - a creator who is trapped by their own belief that they can't control the value they bring, is stuck within one third-party online platform, and who doesn't fundamentally know how to recreate their success or take it elsewhere.

Creators who can make multiple platforms work always always always have way more control.

It's a self-imposed alienation from owning the means of production in Marxist terms.

Sorry, had to redraft. My app is not having fun with the edits.

A thought I've been chewing on after a particularly vivid dream: I wonder if the minotaur in the maze was a symbol of the internal human struggle between our needs in both a wild and a built world and how those structures, like cities, are overwhelming and oppressive while simultaneously being isolating and entrapping. Or perhaps a symbol of domesticates being trapped between two worlds...

That article is a bit out of date and wasn’t really true anyway. The people who are creating Pretendo, who wrote the blog post this article is based on, did an update on the situation, specifically calling out the media for their sloppy articles:

With that said, some outlets did a less than stellar job at reporting our last post, not covering some topics fully or accurately.

TL;DR: Many of the issues have already been fixed, even going so far as there are now entirely new servers in place to act as a proxy for Amazons servers to work around some security related incompatibility issues.

This is misinformation.

KDE users got a broken Nvidia driver.

jaeme ,

Zorin OS 17 isn’t going to dethrone Linux Mint any time soon. I wish they switched to following Ubuntu LTS releases instead of being on their own timeline. 22.04 package base is going to be 2 years old by the time this releases.

They obviously spent a lot of time on aesthetics and simplicity which seems to be the main appeal of the distribution.
