Players: How does the writing in a videogame affect your overall enjoyment? Has anything ever made you quit a game - unclear wording, poor translation/localisation, inconsistencies, typos?
@PiecesOfKate The writing can absolutely make or break a game for me. For instance, I despise Bungie's monetization practices with the last few expansions of Destiny 2, however I keep giving them my money in spite of that, because I love the writing of the game and I'm invested in that story.
On the flip side, I love the tactics-style gameplay of Fire Emblem, but didn't even make it to the time-skip in Three Houses because all the character dialogue was so terrible that I couldn't stand playing it any further and never got to experience the full game.
Meta doesn't care for #OpenScience, research integrity, user safety or human rights even. It is naïve to think that the COS is going to do anything other than PR laundering for Meta.
Don't really think the whole Twitter migration worked, at least not for me… Just being here is isolating and doesn't help with networking, plus I miss everyone who didn't switch, so I think from now on, I'll be active both on #Mastodon and on #Twitter / #X… Sure hope the #Fediverse won't hate me for this! 💀
@ninokadic I agree, there used to be more activity and @academicchatter here. There are some very active political philosophers on #BlueSky and I got some important news and paper alerts there. But my timeline is more diverse and more fun here!
@leochavez Depends whether the game felt like an upward hill battle or not! I only say conquered for Souls-like games because they tend to be player hostile in nature, it feels like a constant battle between me and the game. I tend to finish these games out of spite. For games with a player friendly nature or normal difficulty, I tend to say finished or completed because I had fun during my playthrough.
like... just not having to bring up, much less explain, cptsd because the other person can talk about their own self-work... at this stage in my life, meeting new people again, i really appreciate that the @actuallyautistic and ND community writ large is figuring out our shit and healing.
For a long time I've been bothered by problems with the Paradise Lost #wikipedia article. Periodically I go try to improve one section or another, but I feel like it needs a group effort.
