Well I do almost daily

ben_dover ,

another strong “yes” from me. my wired headset has much better speech quality than bluetooth ones. i didn’t upgrade my phone since the new Pixels dropped the headphone jack, instead i fixed the screen and battery and keep it another couple of years

Naz ,

Literally every day. I got a new phone without one – P7P, and when I reached to plug my wired headphones in, my next action was ordering a USB-C DAC. It’s stupid that the industry has gone in this direction. An analog jack costs you basically nothing in material costs, it’s like 5mm of plastic and copper, some solder, no more than 0.30-0.52 ¢ on a phone that market retail sells for $900-1200. It’s insanity.

theherk ,

The cost isn’t the only thing affected by the BOM. It also has implications on design, elements protection, dimensions, and mass. I understand many still love this feature though and consider it well worth the trade-offs.

ammonium ,

I stopped using it because my cables got always damaged after a few weeks/months of usage. With a (big) phone in my pocket it’s just not possible for me to put no stress on the jack.

I actually stopped listening music on the road for a few years after that until I started using Bluetooth headphones/in ears. Now I wouldn’t go back to cable even if it didn’t break down so fast.

hakunawazo ,

I use it to collect sand and little stones in my device.
But also to have a backup if my bluetooth in-ears get low on battery or i need to plug the phone to my old school amplifier.

If there was one I think I’d prefer it.

pewgar_seemsimandroid ,

it’s the olny way i can use headphones right now since I don’t have wireless headphones

My friends workshop has an old stereo in it. We use the Aux cable to play music on that.

Otherwise I usually have a pair of cheap headphones in my bag in case the bluetooth ones run out.

Everyday. I am an audiophile and I prefer analog signal audio fidelity over Bluetooth, though I will admit wireless audio has come a long way in quality since its inception. Also, I resent having to charge another device in day-to-day use.

HowManyNimons ,

I’m the opposite. I miss my headphone jack because if I lose or forget my headphones, I used to be able to pick up a podcast-worthy pair for a few quid. Bluetooth ones start at a much higher price point, so I’m more likely to go without.

Phen ,

My phone doesn’t have one and I miss it daily. I ended up getting Bluetooth earpieces because being unable to plug anything else in my phone while listening to music was driving me mad, but then those little shits’ batteries only last for a few hours and I still have to be switching things up during the day while they recharge.

kameecoding ,

I have always hated wired earbuds, the cable would tangle up, it would break, it was a mess, I love being wireless.

When I do miss a jack is when you want to connect to a sound system beacause you are somewhere and it could use some atmosphere and they have a 3.5 jack, but you can’t use it, it’s rare, but in those instance it’s annoying to not have it.

Evotech ,

There are Bluetooth in aux adapters but you’re not going to carry one of those with you at all times :p

kalleboo ,

I like using wired headphones when I take phone calls. The headset profile that Bluetooth switches to when it needs to activate a microphone sounds like total ass and I have trouble understanding what people say as it is.

Exactly. I use my ath50x headset usually wirelessly but for calls I switch to the wire. I have tried using the headset mode but have been told everytime that I am uninteligible in that mode because the mic is fucking shit. I even vompared it with the help of my friends on discord and they said to jist keep using the wire.

Blackmist ,

Current phone: Never, because it doesn’t have one.

Last phone: Also never, because I had decent Bluetooth headphones.

Phone before that: All the time, but broke several sets of earbuds from snagging on things and getting frayed.

Genuinely can’t be arsed to wear a piece of wire down my clothes like I’m a small child with some fucking mittens on a string. Could not give two fucks about the 3.5mm jack dying out.

WhyYesZoidberg ,

I use wired headphones in bed, listening to podcast and whatnot. Easier to just yank out and throw away when falling asleep. I use lightning headphones right now…
