EnderofGames , in Steam NEXT Fest: Demo Recommendation!

I went looking for Metroidvanias. Stumbled upon TEVI. A few others that I’ll prolly be looking out for, but that one stands out to me.

Also Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

vivadanang , in Valve Says Counter-Strike 2 for macOS Not Happening Because There Aren't Enough Players on Mac to Justify It

uninstalled it today, it’s really a gameplay downgrade from cs:go and that wasn’t my fav cs by far.

really shitty that they basically took cs:go away too. yeah, I dig the levels and lighting and crosshairs but otherwise the experience, both multiplayer and even bot practice gameplay was pretty meh.

I don’t think you can even play workshop maps with friends anymore, game’s useless now.

That or i couldn’t find the option for 10 minutes

DNU ,

Not there yet, but the odds are good that it’s gonna return as soon as they’re finished fixing the game. For the old Workshop you can switch to the csgo beta branch.

Wonder if they’re able to tell how many people are playing it on GeForce now?

scotty ,

Actually runs really well on GeForce Now. Yes you need a strong internet connection but it fills the void for the rare times I want to play.

Cappurnikus , in New Steam Deck just passed through the FCC — but is this Steam Deck 2? | (Spoiler No)

Seems like it’s probably a console/mini PC. I would assume it will come with Steam OS. We’ll see!

majestictechie ,

They already did this 5 years back and it was a failure. The Steam controller was neat though.

Now Proton has had more time, it makes sense that they would revisit this though

Nighed ,
@Nighed@sffa.community avatar

The software support (proton) wasn’t where is it now though. They also did it through third parties instead of in house.

Could be interesting, they could probably market it.

Cappurnikus ,

They made a streaming box, not a console or mini PC.

majestictechie ,

Nah, they made what was basically a Linux based Steam console too: techradar.com/…/valve-steam-box-release-date-news…

Cappurnikus ,

“licensed by – but not designed – by Valve”

That’s a key difference.

Edgelord_Of_Tomorrow ,

A home console only slightly more powerful than the Deck (as reported) would be a flop. It would be less powerful than the PS4. People will be plugging this into 4k 120hz TVs.

I’d be very surprised if it was a home console unless they have some kind of magic upscaling they’ve built into Proton.

topinambour_rex ,
@topinambour_rex@lemmy.world avatar

I wonder if there is so many 4k tv around.

derpgon ,

Some 32" TVs are 4k, 99% of 43"+ TVs are 4k. Most people can afford them because they are very cheap. Usually 90Hz, mostly 100Hz, sometimes 120 or 150Hz

Diplomjodler ,

If they manage to put in a 7600 class GPU and sell the whole thing for under $500, it would be a winner. You could build a PC like that, so given the economies of scale, that should be doable.

Chais , in Latest Steam hardware survey, resolution results seem off?
@Chais@sh.itjust.works avatar

I run 3840x1080. Two 1080p screens next to each other. Seems hard to believe that no one runs a single 1080p display, but maybe that’s the case?

magoosh ,

Top left: multi monitor resolution These numbers exclude single monitor setups.

Chais ,
@Chais@sh.itjust.works avatar

Well that’ll explain it 😁

I was very skeptical Proton would work as well as it does but it really is a literal game changer.

JoshuaSlowpoke777 , in Microsoft estimated Valve’s revenue in 2021 at $6.5bn Interesting to see another view on the scale of Valve’s business

Why is Microsoft, of all groups, monitoring Valve’s profits? That seems kinda weird to me, as though it’s overstepping some sort of boundary.

SheeEttin ,

zigmus64 ,

Myriad reasons. Guarantee Apple, Google, Sony, Tencent, and others on that list maintain a similar list.

folkrav ,

They’re both into gaming hardware and game distribution. Companies pretty much always watch what their competition is doing.

HidingCat ,

I didn't expect the Lemmy privacy mindset to go so far; competitor analysis is a thing in business, and when you aggregate such data you can also analyse industry trends and your business's position in it. I don't see why it's a boundary?

CosmicSploogeDrizzle , in Which upcomming indie game you have high hopes for ?
@CosmicSploogeDrizzle@lemmy.world avatar

Cocoon, from the lead gameplay designer behind Limbo and Inside. Comes out Sept 29th. I can’t wait.

Blubber28 ,

And published by Annapurna Interactive to boot (also published Stray, Outer Wilds, and What Remains of Edith Finch). Got it wishlisted too :)

ModernRisk , in What is your opinion on games raising their price ?

I’m completely done with that crap. Games becoming €80 while they’re either mediocre, lots of bug/ glitches or flat out unplayable.

I rather wait for a heavy sale or well - the instance I’m on should say enough.

Feel like in the future games going to be €100 normally and €120 deluxe etc.

CalamityBalls , in What is your opinion on games raising their price ?

If a game costs what I'm willing to pay for it, I buy it, if it doesn't, I check G2A, if still not, wishlist and wait for sale. They can do what they like with prices but I've got my pain limit.

Apart from From Software stuff, I will buy all of those.

Vcio OP ,
@Vcio@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not better to pirate than buy at G2A ?

Mandarbmax , in On October 12, Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf and all of its DLC will be removed from the Steam store.

Thanks for the info.

Why is it getting removed?

PriorProject ,

I don’t know for sure in this case, but it’s often that some license was time-limited. You might license the music for x-years, or get a license to distribute some third-party software library with your game. With the license time-period runs out the publisher either has to pay to renew the license or stop selling the game. In either case, people who bought get to keep what they have.

hydroel ,

Very likely a license problem, with the Games Workshop not renewing the W40K license for HeroCraft (the game developers). I hope not too many recent games actually get unlisted from Steam because of music licensing issues, when a simple solution would be to remove said music in a patch.

shapis , in [Free weekend] - 2 new games are free to play during the weekend: State of decay 2 and For the king.

For the king is truly amazing with friends. I’d highly recommend it to anyone.

I might try state of decay 2. I loved the first one. I hear the second one is co op. Which might be nice.

RisingSwell , in How do you organize your Steam library?

I sort by recently played and installed, so whatever I played or bought most recently is at the top, and no uninstalled games show up.
