I really digged Dungeonborne and Indika. Also, Duck Detective and Diceomancer went to my wishlist.

Fiivemacs , in On now: Remote Play Together Fest!

Remote play is always a pile of laggy shit whenever we try it.

ech , in The top demos of Steam Next Fest (so far!)

Favorite for me was definitely Pacific Drive. It combined my inclination for being a loot goblin with surprisingly fun car repair mechanics, all wrapped in a contemporary supernatural vibe. I hesitate to call it Control-esque as that’s a GOAT game to me, but it has that similar attention to detail that I love about Control.

Honorable mentions for Lightyear Frontier, Star Trucker, Pepper Grinder, and Duck Detective.

I hope they fix the game fast man. I wanted to play with my brother, but had nothing but crashes and couldn’t complete missions. It ruined our gaming day. The next day I wanted to play but the servers were down for maintenance, haven’t had time to play it since and don’t want to till they fix it.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

That sucks to hear. I’ve been playing a bit here and there, and other than a few post missions crashes haven’t had any major issues.

Thorry84 ,

My game had a total of 8 crashes in about 10 hours of gaming, so not great, not terrible. My brother had the game crash multiple times per hour. We later found out it’s probably to do with him having a 7900XTX videocard and Windows 11. We did try fucking with the settings a lot, tweaking everything we could think off, but nothing helped. We later found out the GPU and OS combination was broken for a lot of people. I was on Windows 10 with a 4070 Ti and it was a lot better for me.

We also had a lot of weird bugs, but that was kinda to be expected just after release. The biggest game breaking bug was the difficulty being totally off, choosing a medium mission and have the game actually be on suicide, or choosing challenging and have the game be on easy. But usually restarting the game would fix this bug. Other bugs were just annoying or funny, but not really game breaking.

I also put in the time to dig up an old 250GB SSD, so I could remove my normal drives and install a clean Windows 10 just for this game and it’s bullshit anti-cheat. After playing the game I removed the old SSD and plugged my regular drives back in, so my day-to-day system wasn’t fucked by kernel level crap.

That’s a lot. The worst I’ve had is like… Clipping through a rock or uneven terrain due to chargers being hilarious.

7900XTX seems to be bugged in general with Helldivers 2. I get occasional lockups on linux as well.

Shard ,

Is couch/local co-op possible in Hell Divers 2? Its really one of the big things that sold me on the first game.

LapGoat ,
@LapGoat@pawb.social avatar

No couch/local co-op, you’ll need your own consoles and game licenses.

Thanks a lot for the info! :)

you’re welcome :)

Loved the first one for fucking around with friends. I'll maybe pick it up after they add vehicles and we see a bit more of their long-term monetization strategy.

Tronn4 , in RPG Maker XP is free to keep until February 19th

So Feb 19th steam will come to my house and delete my hard drive?

janNatan ,

Not sure if joking, but if you add it to your library before the cutoff date, then it’s yours forever - just like if you bought it.

seathru ,

“free to keep until” isn’t the clearest wording.

Tronn4 ,

Issa joke guy 👦

testeronious OP ,

yes, don’t open your door to steam

Steam Deck is a game? I thought it was a device?

I cannot get this game to matchmake… Very disappointed. But what can you expect from svenskjävlar

Both sides were in a big grump with the other, leading to angry blog posts, spurious DMCAs, crowdfunded legal defences, and eventual amicable settlement due to intervention by bees.

Thanks, bees!

TC_209 , in Star Control 2 becomes Free Stars: The Ur-Quan Masters on Steam next week

Star Control II is one of the best games ever made. This is an objective scientific fact.

Valve just keeps on delivering the open-source goodness!

nailoC5 ,

maybe one day they will actually respect the gpl license. gitlab.com/evlaV/holo-PKGBUILD

Max_P ,
@Max_P@lemmy.max-p.me avatar

Aren’t those all basically just standard ArchLinux packages? Are they modified in any way from their original PKGBUILD? Do those packages come with non public patches applied to them?

If they’re just plain Arch packages, I don’t see a problem with the implied need to go get them from Arch. Sure it would be nicer if you could just use their build system, but if you want the source for the bash binary they ship and it’s the same unmodified upstream bash sources.

Can you point to a specific problematic package or component/binary/script that the GPL requires to be public that is not?

Who would have thought 10 years ago that one of the biggest contributors to the Linux ecosystem and currently a significant driving force for adoption would come from the gaming industry.

Username ,

Is this sarcasm? I’m not sure, because there is this guy that said “Valve will save the Linux Desktop” about 10 years ago.
