So I was looking at the skulls from Picard Season 2 Episode 2, and when I came across Commodore Y’Shi’s, I recognized something familiar on the nameplate. Turns out it was the Voth Symbol seen in “Distant Origin” (Season 3 Episode 23). So, I got the design from Star Trek Design Project, and flipped it and there it is....
I’m not clear on what exact year SNW season three will take place, but it appears to be about six years before the first season of TOS, which starts in 2265....

I’ve never seen Star Trek TOS so I don’t know for sure if this is explained anywhere. Does anyone know why they made the switch from red shirts to yellow shirts between commanding officers and security between TOS and TNG?
