I need some advice on my NAS situation. I’ve got a hand-me-down QNap TS-453BU-RP that’s been working fine for the majority of the time I’ve had it. It’s for 4x2TB spindles and 2xM.2 SSDs. The M.2’s are on a PCI expansion card....
Hello, I set up my own lemmy instance and it can’t comment on other instances. on the apps it gives me a language not allowed, on desktop the post button just spins eternally. And idea how I can fix this?...
Hoping someone has news on the rumored DS1823+....
At the moment i use a super hacky and unstable setup where multiple instances of everything in ETP server mode run under a windows core VM, and when it works, it works fine. But sometimes it stops updating the index, sometimes it just crashes, sometimes serves the wrong db, and so on....
Hi, I run a few game servers but I kind of need to back them up while they are running, is there something suitable.
I’ve been considering the idea of hosting my own instance of Lemmy, solely for my own use, maybe with 1 or 2 family members using it as well. I’ve seen several discussions regarding the requirements for system resources, but not much regarding bandwidth. I have an abundance of processing power, memory, and storage space in...
Hey guys!...
I am building up a selfhosted homelab after a few years of building up services on a single old desktop computer that I bought for $300. I had installed Ubuntu on it, and upgraded the RAM, etc and basically just used Docker to stand-up various services that all of you would be familiar with....
I haven’t really posted a lot to r/selfhosted (or Reddit in general), but whenever I did, there was always someone who voted my post down in less than 30 minutes after it was posted. Maybe because of this (or maybe because they were actually perceived as low quality posts), these posts never received a lot of engagement with...
How do you set up a server? Do you do any automation or do you just open up an SSH session and YOLO? Any containers? Is docker-compose enough for you or are you one of those unicorns who had no issues whatsoever with rootless Podman? Do you use any premade scripts or do you hand craft it all? What distro are you building on top...
Come on and fight me…...
As r/selfhosted seems to have shutdown due to the reddit api changes (rip), I wanted to see if anyone has worked with these services before?...
Hi All,...
Edit: YOOOOOOOO YOU CAN EDIT TITLES HERE...
I set up a self-hosted instance yesterday, so far it runs fine. I can subscribe from there to communities hosted on other instances, I can comment from my instance and the comments show up on other instances....
What do you recommend for an at-a-glance access log dashboard? Kibana and Grafana seem cool but overkill....

I have a php webpage with a search bar that uses php code to search my server for files. It’s really slow. It’s a custom made thing I came up with years ago....
I am not looking for something like permify, but something like Snipe-IT, but for permissions and roles given to users....
I want to use Linkwarden to backup websites I find but I can’t afford a subscription right now. What’s the easiest way to selfhost it on my desktop pc (windows) that will keep it updated and working without having to mess with it or do a bunch of command line stuff?
Hello! I have jellyfin+qbittorrent+radarr on my home server, but I can’t make it work with hardlinks. When a download finishes, it just copies it to the /movie folder, doubling the disk space. at least, I think that it’s just a copy, because the disk space is double and find ./downloads -samefile ./movies/path/to/file.mkv...
I have a small self hosted setup at home with a RaspberryPi and an external HDD, just enough for what I need....
I’ve been self-hosting email with Maddy for a bit, but haven’t shared any of the addresses widely yet in part because I haven’t set up a spam filter. I’m pleased with Maddy; there’s much less to learn to get a server up and running with sane default behavior than with the email software of old....
TL; DR: Is it possible (and if so, desirable) to configure my OPNsense router to handle non-standard traffic instead of needing to configure each client device manually? Examples of what I mean by ‘non-standard traffic’ include Handshake, I2P, ZeroNet, and Tor.
