SpaceNoodle , in Twitter/GitHubProjects has no chill 😅

I committed it, but I didn’t push

GigglyBobble ,

And now Bob next door pushes his shit first and you have an extra hour fixing conflicts.

SpaceNoodle ,

Fucking Stephen did that the other week. YOU DIDN’T NEED TO BIFURCATE THAT CONFIG FILE, STEPHEN.

Fork is much better than GitHub Desktop, you can use it without paying indefinitely

hightrix , in GitHub Desktop or Git CLI?

GitHub desktop Stan here. Been a software engineer for over a decade and still love my UI tools. GitHub desktop is good enough 99% of the time.

I really like Sourcetree, been using that for a long time.

Fades ,

Source tree has always been horribly optimized to point of uselessness. Wonder if it’s still shit

Hagdos ,

What do you mean by this? It works fine for me so far, though I’m not a heavy user.

ohlaph ,

Same here. Use it regularly at work. For personal projects, I tend to just use the IDE.

You should not use -m, you should write commit body!

SirQuackTheDuck ,

Nah, most commits don’t need a body

zalgotext ,

Why? My coworkers are barely literate and won’t read anything with more than 4 or 5 words, writing a commit body would be a waste of time.

pete_the_cat , in Manager: This task only takes 30 minutes. Why did it take you the whole day?

For me, it was my boss gave me a programming task which he knew would take hours or a day or two… and then 15 minutes later tells me to “switch focus” and do a menial task that any of my five coworkers could do 🤦‍♂️

giggling_engine , in Manager: This task only takes 30 minutes. Why did it take you the whole day?
@giggling_engine@lemmy.world avatar

The usual reason would be “because coworkers”

Metype , in GitHub Desktop or Git CLI?
@Metype@lemmy.world avatar

I’d use Desktop if it worked, unfortunately recently it decided that I don’t have read/write access to a repo I’m working on. Works fine in git CLI so idk what the problem there is.

marcos , in GitHub Desktop or Git CLI?

For something with such an horrible interface, it’s amazing how often people that create a new interface for it manage to make it worse.
