I’m not sure on the ins and outs of hosting/running a 3rd part reddit app, but since reddit is claiming these API charges are only for apps that pull in big numbers, couldn’t the app creators just make a bunch of versions of the app with a limit to how many users can access it?...
Does anybody knows how long it takes to sign up for the Lemmy.ml instance with an account? It would give me the green wheel and I don’t know if I have to wait “x” amount of time or it’s just not possible at this time.
Say I found a person that I want to fallow on Lemmy, is it possible to be able to see any post they make show up in my subscribed thread?
The sheer number of videos taken “the wrong way round” (for my computer’s monitor) is mind-boggling. I get that some people watch videos on their phones, but is it really that many?
For the years that I was on Reddit and now on Lemmy, I have seen these terms used a lot, but honestly, I’ve never actually knew what it meant. (I’m sorry if this is a really stupid question.)
I don’t really have a question but I want to talk about noodles, please. Is a tamale a noodle or a sandwich?
Or is the website the preferred way?
I never liked Reddit. I used to only use it for an hour or less a day to follow tech and IT communities....
What are your thoughts on antiwhite racism? Is it justified in your opinion? And do you believe that racism can go in all directions? It’s a controversial topic amongst many people and deserves to be talked about openly and honesty.
Anyone know of a social media manager that include lemmy? Must be free and open source....
So my understanding is that a community created on a certain server (say lemmy.world), can be interacted with by any other federated server, and any interactions from those servers are synced to the original “true” community / server. How does it work if two servers both have a community with the same name? Each server is...
Still learning the rules of this room by the way so bear with me
Bad title but previously on subscriptions or home, there would be 4 (or maybe 5?) videos per row. Now it’s 3 and the thumbnails are bigger. It’s very annoying cause I have to scroll more and I don’t see the need to have the thumbnails be so large....
Someone posted how can we communicate with a blind person as a joke but got me thinking how is it done with both blind and also a deaf.
Recently when following a link to Wikipedia, there in the text my reading was interrupted by a word that just looks ugly: “possesses”. I find it a massively disturbing eyesore. Can I complain somewhere for that word to be changed?
edit: nvm, you can just talk to them
Anything will be considered as long as it’s designed by the community & has our members’ support! :)
Now that I (I think) understand federation I was going to unblock the beehaw communities since I should still be able to vote and comment on them but I can’t find them now.
I really want Lemmy to work but I’m having a difficult time tracking different communities across different instances. It feels like I’m doing something wrong. I typically just land on the lemmy.world front page and scroll through there, and I see some interesting stuff, but I’d like to learn how to curate it a bit more
I just found out @Midwest.social exists after finding the Chicago community there. I was trying to list out other communities on that instance and couldn’t quite figure it out. Do I have to visit Midwest.social in order to list them, or is there a way to do it from lemmy.world?
I can only log in when I change my password. I do not know why this happens or how to solve it. The log in button keeps spinning but it does nothing. There must be something I am missing but I don’t know what. I am sorry.
