IMO there’s nothing wrong with a landlord that charges fair rent (mortgage + well reasoned maintenance costs + a reasonable profit, it is a business after all) and keeps up with maintenance in a good manner. Remember that not everyone is able to get a mortgage but is able to afford the same amount in rent.
