when I see that whichever instance I choose is defederated from another bunch of random instances, is it possible to have those show in my feed without making a separate profile from other instances? and can I turn them off again if I see that defederating was the right idea?
Just saw a thing about Minnesota’s flag contest and some joker suggested using California’s flag which I started overthinking about which leads us here. If Minnesota actually changed their state flag to California’s state flag, could California sue Minnesota? 🤔
Some context: So far all I’ve done has been passively watching game design analysis type videos as well as Unity implode on itself without really jumping into gamedev. I only got inspired rather recently to take the dive....
All the theories I read have to have a lot of things line up for it to actually start. However know one has been talking about who would win and mainly I think its because there can be no winners this time around with all the new weapons and bomb tech most countries now own.
I use different web interfaces to access Gmail, Hotmail, ProtonMail, Disroot, etc. However, I would like to use a single client to receive all my emails. Which desktop programs would you recommend for Linux, and which apps would you recommend for Android? I need them to support all of these email boxes. From what I’ve read...
I don’t mean IPA symbols (which I can’t read) but rather characters from a normal alphabet being used to phoneticise a word, e.g. excerpt is pronounced “[EK] + [SURPT]”. What would this be called? Letter-based phoneticisation?

Fedilab is one of the few applications that has a self-cleaning cache function when exiting the application. Why don’t many other apps have a feature to disable caching or self-clear the cache?
(note: this is in the US, idk if it’s normal in other countries) I understand that some cities don’t have a station, in which case it makes sense, but I’m visiting family in a small city (college town) that just updated the train/bus station a few years ago, but the only bus from my major city drops me off on a random side...
Some weeks ago I kept seeing a story that I can’t seem to find anymore. A dog was guarding a flock or a herd, and after an attack on the animals the dog was watching over, it went missing for days tracking down a pack of wolves or coyotes and killing most or all of them. There was said to be a trail of dead pack members. The...
So I’m sitting here looking at a black widow on my porch and it’s a big fat fucker. I wanted to take a pic but I don’t want to get too close. Yet the image my camera picks up looks like I am trying to snap the pic from the opposite wall of the porch when I’m only about 2 feet from the spider. Why is that?
