Not sure what community to post this in so I’ll post it here....
currently juggling between active and hot sorts and both seem to return the same crap throughout the day… what sort works best for you?
Hey everyone,...
In particular for a user, so they get a notification that they were mentioned.
I've found that some of the replies in kbin have solid lines and some are dashed even though they are relplying to the same comment. Are dashed lines for accounts on unfederated instances or something similar? (still new to fediverse so not sure how this all works)
AsI understand it someone is paying for me to use this so should I try to limit my time here to keep their costs down? Should I avoid leaving it open casually? Is there a way to support instances that I enjoy?
I’m trying to think of ways to counter cheating through custom mods as I’ve seen used in other games I’ve played. Like changing wall textures to be transparent or invisible (easy; just don’t allow them to be modded) or player models with huge axis lines extending from them, so they clip through walls (where my question...
And what is it? Always assumed it was just water but now I’m pretty sure it’s not. Also do all cars do this?
I currently have an iPhone X. I like it, but it’s gradually dying. It’s also a bit too big. Perfect size would be the iPhone 7 or similar. I’ve had different brand phones before this, so while I’ve been on Apple for a while, I’ve had Samsung, Motorola, Sony, Nokia etc. all the way back to the Nokia 3210....
I miss being able to disable inbox replies on Reddit on comments I wasn’t interested in replies to and I’m wondering if there’s a way to do this on Lemmy
Stereotypical authoritarian leaders in history tend to do opulent, egocentric things like building statues of themselves everywhere or writing songs about how cool they are and making kids in school sing them. What are some examples of modest dictators whose regimes skipped that type of pomp and circumstance?
So, plainly, my questions are what know-how do I need to make one and if I ultimately can make one, how do I integrate it into a platform? E.g how did the pipedbot link I got to see, get integrated into lemmy in the comments section?...
There seems to be many lemmy apps available. I already tried few apps though I don’t even know where to find most of the others. Instead of trying every single one of them I’d like to know if there’s anything similar to RIF. Here’s some key features of RIF:...
So I‘ve been a gamer for all my life, never experienced back pain. Not while on the couch, not while pc gaming, never....
I’ve noticed that any trend or fad that I find out about months later originates on TikTok. I have no interest in using the app for a variety of reasons, but if it’s something that might actually improve how I live then I might get FOMO.
With any question, why is it always so helpful to know why the answer is the one that is? In another words, which principle of thinking and learning is most closely tied to question “why”? Or is it purely social act of expressing deeper interest? Is questioning for reasons mandatory?...
For example, use a password manager, use 2FA.
Not sure if I need to elaborate. I’m sick of having to scroll through an entire fucking novella just to find the recipe.
Lemmy appears to be very similiar to Mastodon, with decentralised servers to prevent musky spezulence....
What is an instance? what is a federation? what is a server? can someone please describe in simple terms how this all runs and how we as users navigate it?
