As is tradition, humanity will have to learn the hard way, with maximum self-inflicted collateral damage and fallout. No one’s gonna tell us not to rape, pillage, and abuse OUR planet for fun and profit, after all.
Want to know the best part? If we do actually learn, change our ways, and over generations allow our damage on the planet to heal out of necessity of self-inflicted misery through forced shared sacrifice, the next generation to enjoy a clean, temperate planet will proceed to abandon those lessons and see what they can get away with to get a little mooooooooooore for themselves. After all, it’ll be someone else’s problem down the line, amirite? What devious, greedy little monkeys we are.
Humanity is doomed to never learn from it’s mistakes. Look at the rise of the fascist right in Germany and the US, look at what WWII’s victims have lived long enough to become. We as a species refuse to heed what we learn for more than a single lifespan at most, even in the age of digital records.
