Do we know if background checks would have helped?
I suppose not. I just think that something should be done, be it more frequent background checks, or anonymous 360 reviews within the staff, or an independent board to review decisions made. We should necessarily trust everyone on the staff to have our best interests at heart, especially when they’re foreign nationals. This sounds like someone that the CIA/NSA should have been checking up on and notifying the FBI of their actions.
