That’s exactly what’s happening. That’s why we’ve been seeing Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria in headlines recently. Calling Oct 7th “Israel’s 9/11” was very, very accurate.
It should also be noted that Israel has invaded and controlled the Egypt’s Sinai peninsula twice. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a fourth option. (But it doesn’t seem like they really want to hold it, the invasions were mostly to make a point. So it seems unlikely to me at this time.)
