Y’all gonna get real sick of me, but I dont think it matters, even if she does win it.

If anything, this will supercharge the racist bigots into political violence. I hope to God they aren’t numerous enough to cause any serious damage, but Jan 6 is all the evidence we need to see just how horrible MAGAts are.

I will vote Kamala. I will start spreading the news, and get everyone I can behind her. Because it’s anyone vs a Nazi. We don’t have a choice. The Nazis must not come back to power.

Rentlar ,

You are correct the Republicans are going to do that, but the party of Trump’s method is to keep slinging shit until something sticks. That’s going to happen no matter who the candidate is. Biden, for his part, just wiped the board and let all the turds slip off. We have a shot at producing a campaign of hope, rather than a campaign of simply staving off the worst.

Samvega ,

Bigotry is already violence.

I hope for a next president who understands that they shouldn’t use twitter.

As long as the public reads Twitter to the degree they do, the President’s team is gonna have a Twitter communications strategy.

SuddenDownpour ,

For all of y’all anxiety-pilled people: this is great news. Biden was stuck in negative momentum because his health issues had been exposed and were not going to stop resulting in terrible headlines, which is a problem whoever comes next is not going to have, unless the delegates are somehow stupid enough to pull another dinosaur from below the rug.

More interestingly: now that Biden has pulled out because he’s patently too old, as it was a concern for plenty of voters, this is a golden opportunity to put the focus on the other candidate whose age is a somewhat less obvious but still noticeable issue.

timbuck2themoon ,

If 34 felonies, rape, insurrection, etc. Didn’t sway people Im not sure age is the thing that’ll turn them around.

JimSamtanko ,

Yup. It had nothing to do with his age.

Nastybutler ,

Yeah, but just think of all the clips we can show of Faux News talking heads saying someone in their 80s is too old for President, and do the ol’ switcharoo

EnderWiggin ,

Exactly! We now have a much younger, well-spoken, and intelligent candidate who can square off against someone who probably can’t remember the last time they wiped their own ass. Let’s go, Kamala!

Rentlar , (edited )

Biden must have received some sign from the Lord. I am confident he would have made for a great 2nd term, but I would also feel bad for his final legacy to be that he handed the election to Trump despite his 1st term successes.

This is your moment, America. It’s in your hands now to see it through in November, kick Trump out no matter who the Democratic nominee will be.

I’ll be keeping an eye on those particular accounts on Lemmy that were constantly calling for resignation, whether anyone as presidential nominee will satisfy them.

Ensign_Crab ,

Biden must have received some sign from the Lord.

Well, Manchin told him to drop out…

chuckleslord ,

Hardly, but I do understand the sentiment. Really wish we’d had an actual primary, but oh well. We’ve definitely got this, people know how bad the cheeto is.

xnx ,

Its extremely worrying he didnt announce who is replacing him. This election might wnd up being decided by the supreme court after republicans challenge the replacement in the courts

CosmoNova ,

He just gave media something to speculate on for the next couple hours or days. It’s much more effective that way because who cares about Trump right now?

mosiacmango ,

He just endorsed Harris, but I expect they will still let it go to the convention.

iz_ok ,

Harris had a meeting with the financial backers a few days ago. It would probably be easier for the funds to go to her campaign then if someone fresh started. One of the arguments for Biden to stick around was that the new candidate would have to raise nearly a billion dollars to even have a chance at winning.

yumpsuit ,

It would probably be easier for the funds to go to her campaign then if someone fresh started.

You’re correct. AP:

What happens to Biden’s campaign money?

Biden’s campaign recently reported $91 million cash on hand. Allied Democratic campaign committees brought the total at his disposal to more than $240 million. Campaign finance experts agree generally that Harris could control all those funds since the campaign was set up in her name as well as Biden’s. If Democrats do nominate someone other than Harris, party accounts could still benefit the nominee, but the Biden-Harris account would have more restrictions. For example, legal experts say it could become an independent expenditure political action committee but not simply transfer its balance to a different nominee.

…whatever. What’s done is done.

What’s the best option going forward, and how do the common rabble like myself best support the newest not-Trump?

iz_ok ,

Once they get the candidate situation situated, donate and canvass for them. Convince your friends to vote. If you feel voting doesn’t matter, remember there’s more on the ballot than the presidential race. A lot of the time meaningful change starts at the local level. You’ll see your political power in action if you get involved in your community.

Information on Canvassing.

callhub.io/blog/canvassing/canvassing/

Rentlar ,

#1 priority is to get out the vote between you, your friends, family and coworkers, and take the trust that Biden has just put in you and everyone else to uphold your democratic values as a nation.

If you want a challenge, your goal is to track every bullshit reason Republicans (some in Democratic sheep’s clothing) fabricate that the new nominee is unelectable, and communicate to your network why those reasons are bullshit, no matter how many times the media repeats it to pass it off as true.

lemmytellyousomething ,

FINALLY…

Bad for the orange one, because the other side will get the whole media attention now.

floofloof , (edited )

We can hope. If the media attention is “Democrats are in shambles 3 months before the election” it might not go so well. And Trump will definitely be making a lot of noise about that.

timestatic ,

I hope the Dems will quickly rally behind a new candidate and show more of the bad side of rump in the political debate, not just Bidens age. I think this is a huge chance

lone_faerie ,

I feel like the Democrats appeared more in shambles with him refusing to drop out. The party was all over the place on their support for him and he was just being a stubborn old man. Now they’ll hopefully all be able to come together and rally behind a single candidate.

The campaign to pressure Harris to step aside starts now.

I’m joking, I think. I can’t tell any more.

tamal3 ,

Can we move the convention forward? I understand that US elections are very high dollar, but would be nice to see the options and have everyone agree that Harris is the most inspiring to all.

Whitmer already said she’s not running. Too bad.

kboy101222 ,

As someone who has worked in the event setup space, if they move up the convention, those workers have my utmost sympathies…

Don’t agree with his endorsement for Kamala but thank god finally.

Now throw in some fresh candidates and provable promises, and I’m completely on board.
