UFO sightings likely secret military tests In US
A report from the Pentagon has concluded that the surge in UFO sightings during the 1950s and 60s was largely due to tests of advanced US spy planes and space technology. The report also stated that there is “no evidence” to suggest that the US government has encountered alien life.
According to the report submitted to Congress on Friday, most sightings of UFOs were identified as ordinary objects from Earth. However, Pentagon officials acknowledged that their research is unlikely to dispel popular beliefs about alien visitors.
The report attributed the influence of pop culture, including television programs, books, movies, and internet content, as a significant factor shaping public perceptions about UFOs.
Issued by the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), the report highlighted that public opinion has been influenced by persistent narratives suggesting that the government has recovered alien spacecraft and conspired to keep its alien research activities secret.
A Pentagon spokesperson emphasized that the report was approached with an open-minded perspective but ultimately found no evidence of extraterrestrial visitors. Investigations concluded that most sightings were the result of misidentification of ordinary objects and phenomena.
Despite this, a 2021 Gallup poll revealed that over 40% of Americans believe alien spacecraft have visited Earth, an increase from 33% in just two years.
The report reviewed archives and classified files, debunking rumors about alien spacecraft. For instance, it found that an alleged 1961 leaked memo about UFOs was inauthentic and that samples of “alien spacecraft” collected by UAP investigating organizations were made of earthly materials.
Technological advancements, such as high-altitude balloons and reconnaissance flights, were identified as contributing to spikes in UFO reports in the past. Secret research projects, including the development of aircraft resembling alien spacecraft, further fueled speculation.
Despite the end of the Cold War, UFO sightings continue, with the AARO reporting 50 to 100 sightings per month. Speculation about government cover-ups persists, with some individuals claiming that the US government possesses alien bodies and spacecraft.
The AARO has pledged to release a follow-up report examining recent sightings and rumors at a later date.
