senoro , in These wolves in Alaska ate all the deer. Then, they did something unexpected

TLDR: the wolves developed agriculture! Wow how cool is that! A wolf farming potatoes. We really do live in the future!

Wow!

uphillbothways OP ,

The Wolves of NIMH would've been a much, much scarier young adult novel.

FlyingSquid , in Trump is liable in the second E. Jean Carroll defamation case, judge rules; January trial will determine damages
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Keep 'em coming. You love to see it!

WhatAmLemmy ,

Just strip him off his wealth and through him in a dementia prison ward already. He’s too demented to ever shut the fuck up.

WhatAmLemmy , in Weather Is Driving Up Your Food Bill. Winners and Losers.

Can we stop posting paywalls ffs? If you can’t post the archive it shouldn’t be posted at all…

Archive is in the description along with the whole article. Here it is if you can't see it for federated reasons: https://archive.ph/9fFye

wrath-sedan , in These wolves in Alaska ate all the deer. Then, they did something unexpected
@wrath-sedan@kbin.social avatar

But instead of moving to greener pastures, the wolves remained on an island and shifted their diet to unexpected prey: sea otters.

:-(

SomeRandomWords ,

Okay but really, how unexpected was that? It’s not like a wolf has never had a marine animal before.

wrath-sedan ,
@wrath-sedan@kbin.social avatar

Not unexpected, I just like sea otters. They are unfortunately also a wolf-friendly source of protein.

Moobythegoldensock , in Fani Willis shoots down Georgia fake elector’s removal motion

Still’s lawyers argued in court filings, “In that role, Mr. Still was, or was acting under, an officer of the United States.”

[. . .]

At another point in her Sept. 5 brief, Willis explained “Impersonating certified presidential electors in service to a political campaign cannot be seriously within the scope of any federal role.”

In short, he claimed he was acting as a federal officer, but the courts pointed out that pretending to be a federal officer does not actually make you one.

PeterPoopshit , in Senator appears to suggest bipartisan bill will censor transgender content online

So uh, how do we host a website on the dark net again? If the US is going to go full on China about technology, then it’s time to get even further away from using mainstream tech…

misterundercoat , in 4 Roman-era swords discovered after 1,900 years in Dead Sea cave: "Almost in mint condition"

The fact that the wood and leather bits are preserved is pretty awesome.

theodewere ,
@theodewere@kbin.social avatar

after they do their restoration magic on these things, they are going to look incredible.. they really will look like they were used yesterday..

Ubermeisters ,

Today on PowerWash5000 we will be restoring some antique swords!

AbouBenAdhem , in These wolves in Alaska ate all the deer. Then, they did something unexpected

Sounds like a classic case of prey switching.

Fredselfish , in A Flesh-Eating Bacterium Is Creeping North as Oceans Warm
@Fredselfish@lemmy.world avatar

Well just another reason to stay out the water. I worry about brain parasite now this.

Know_not_Scotty_does ,

Yeahhhhhh, fresh water for the amoeba and salt water for flesh eating bacteria… got both bases covered.

AttackBunny , in Airbnb bookings dry up in New York as new short-stay rules are introduced

Hasn’t Hawaii (at least on Oahu) had this for some time now? I know when you look up AirBNB and VRBO there are mentions of it, and to contact the owner directly, etc.

Zaktor ,

It’s had it for a while, but enforcement was pretty spotty. I believe they’ve recently gotten buy-in from AirBNB to not list properties that weren’t permitted.

DigitalFrank , in Trump may have violated copyright law by selling mugshot merchandise

So throw a civil suit at him. I’m sure the taxpayers of Fulton County won’t mind paying for a 10-year court case and appeals.

gayhitler420 , in Ex-Proud Boys leader sentenced to 22 years for role in US Capitol attack

I’m skeptical that the informant will serve that sentence.

Tigbitties , in Some small towns in America are disbanding police forces, citing hiring woes
@Tigbitties@kbin.social avatar

Oh no! Who's going to drive all their tanks?

Ace0fBlades , in These wolves in Alaska ate all the deer. Then, they did something unexpected

Tldr: wolves changed their diet and hunting habits to eat sea otters after the deer ran out
