Ryan213 , in The fight over a bill targeting credit card fees pits payment companies against retailers
@Ryan213@lemmy.world avatar

It’s OK guys, we’ll somehow pay for it one way or another…

nakal , in Houston school district to turn libraries into disciplinary centers
@nakal@kbin.social avatar

I cannot imagine that any politician wants to deny access to knowledge. Something doesn't make sense about it and I suspect the story is one-sided.

Is there a possibility that they plan to use digital books in the future and consider libraries a waste of space or something like that?

thatgirlwasfire ,

I think denying certain people access to knowledge has been a goal of many politicians for some time.

UFODivebomb , in Kenya cyber-attack: Why is eCitizen down?

Going out on a limb and betting China or Russia gangs are responsible. Happy to be priced won’t but… Yea. Not holding my breath.

Every web service provider should block all China and Russia IPs until they agree to behave like responsible parties. AWS’s WAF has pretty good geo IP blocking.

Kuvwert , in NASA is launching its own streaming service later this year

NaSA+…? Why not Nasaverse? Something original

TWeaK ,

Nasaverse is their upcoming AI meets VR startup.

AnonymousLlama , in Leprosy cases in central Florida account for nearly 20% of national cases. What to know
@AnonymousLlama@kbin.social avatar

Fascinating, another thing to add to the list of worries I guess 😂

sndmn , in Conservatives have already written a climate plan for Trump's second term

Burying your head in the sand isn’t a plan.

andrewta , in Mexico to set up center for third-country migrants and U.S. will take referrals for possible refuge

I hate myself for thinking this.

But

We built a wall and their gonna pay for it.

Sort of…

We built a wall and now Mexico is going to pay to house the immigrants and figure out who to refer to us.

They might not be paying for the wall but they are paying for housing them and running the checks on the immigrants.

Like I said… I hate myself for thinking that

SheeEttin ,

At the end of the article, it also talks about the US funding projects in the area.

CeruleanRuin , in Sinéad O'Connor Revealed What She 'Instructed' Her Kids to Do in the Event of Her Death (Exclusive)
@CeruleanRuin@lemmy.world avatar

Also this is literally celebrity gossip, which is against the community guidelines.

andrewta OP ,

Since the article is based around an interview that Sinead has with People magazine and gives quotes that she gave in said interview, I would disagree that it qualifies as gossip.

Gossip would be, “supposedly Jolie and Pitt are back together after they were spotted talking outside of a court house”. That would be gossip.

If the mods or admin want to say I’m wrong I am willing to delete the post. I just don’t see this as gossip.

yip-bonk , in Starlink has become the 'blood' of Ukraine's communication infrastructure, but officials are reportedly growing concerned about relying on Elon Musk's tech
@yip-bonk@kbin.social avatar

I am also concerned. About that.

MyOpinion , in Tennessee residents say their water still smells like diesel after spill, even though officials say it's safe

I am sure it is totally safe to drink. /s

Crackhappy , in Soldiers declare Niger general as head of state following coup
@Crackhappy@lemmy.world avatar

For any who might be confused, this is not about Nigeria.

wellsbringhope.org/niger-nigeria-a-tale-of-two-si….

dragonflyteaparty , in Extreme heat moves east where many will see their hottest days of the year

I’m pretty sure where I’m at we’ve been under a heat advisory for the last three weeks. Given that August is almost here, it probably won’t go away.

porkins , in Most of the 100 million people who signed up for Threads stopped using it

Haven’t gotten any notification messages about it. I don’t think I turned them off either.

dreadedsemi , in Most of the 100 million people who signed up for Threads stopped using it

Because it lacks a lot of features.

tallwookie , in Ancient 2,000-year-old Roman shipwreck found off coast of Italy
@tallwookie@lemmy.world avatar

it’d be more impressive if it was found anywhere else, really.
