Onfire , in A Trooper Issued More than 1,000 Fake Tickets. Connecticut Police Won’t Say Whether He Still Has a Job

I have been to a few union jobs. I don’t like unions. I hate some of the folks there. They can’t be fired unless they do something really stupid. So most end up doing bare minimum.

dartos , in More than 50 pilot whales die after mass stranding on Scottish beach

    Ah I see, thank you for letting me know (:

    MeepMorp , in Second Alzheimer's drug in the pipeline promises to slow worsening but with safety concern

    “Both donanemab and Leqembi are lab-made antibodies, administered by IV, that target one Alzheimer’s culprit, sticky amyloid buildup in the brain. And both drugs come with a serious safety concern — brain swelling or bleeding that in the Lilly study was linked to three deaths.”

    Wooly , in Airbnb is adding cleaning fees to a new 'total price' of bookings in search results after people complained listings were misleading

    I’ve been looking for a place for the past couple weeks, doesn’t it already do this? It does in the UK at least. The price you see is the total price.

    Blamemeta , in Swatch sues Malaysia over seizure of LGBTQ pride watches

    Malaysia still has zero rights for lgbtq people. Hell sodomy is illegal. What did they expect?

    Lemmylaugh , in Russia seizes control of Danone and Carlsberg operations

    How does this practically work? Russia fires all the executives, replaces them with their own and redirect the profits? No impact to the remaining employees?

    Hazdaz ,

    Probably something like that. Heck, probably most of the local executives are Russian, so they were probably in on the government take over. Now they are running the company for Putin. Danone and Carlsberg deserves to have their operations taken over since they decided to continue to run their business in that company.

    Lemmylaugh , in Iran's morality police to resume headscarf patrols

    Do they also have to pay a fine? If so then it’s just a money grab for the govt?

    gravitas_deficiency ,

    Did you… like… miss the HUGE protests that lasted MONTHS in Iran, and the violent reaction to the protests the regime had, due to the morality police killing a girl who was refusing to wear a headscarf?

    This isn’t and never was a “money grab”. This is an entire populace struggling against a murderous and oppressive theocratic dictatorship.

    brimnac ,

    Re; “did you miss…”

    Yes. Yes they did.

    Dum ,

    Not to mention hundreds that died during the protests, several death sentences issued and thousands more arrested by the state for participating in the protests

    JustCopyingOthers , in Biden's election war chest trails Trump's in size, filings show

    AIUI the small print during donation allows for skimming off a fraction of any donations away from his campaigning to a corporation association with finding his court cases.

    InverseParallax , in China economic data likely to show recovery is fading quickly

    They’re going into a serious recession, between real estate and interest rates elsewhere slowing investment and spending there’s no major growth engine anymore, their consumer spending is collapsing in anticipation of a severe downturn.

    India is taking their thunder.

    BathtubJoe , in How America fell out of love with ice cream
    @BathtubJoe@kbin.social avatar

    I stopped eating most dairy (except cheese — love that shit) cause milkshakes, ice cream, etc started making me get congested.

    No other symptoms, just congestion, and never with cheese. Oh well. At least I still have my cheese.

    Capricorny90210 ,

    I’ve never heard of anything like that. Did you go see a Dr?

    BathtubJoe ,
    @BathtubJoe@kbin.social avatar

    Nah, I’ll mention it next time I go though. It doesn’t really bother me, I like ice cream but not enough to foot the doctor’s bill just for that.

    Tygr , in 7.2 earthquake strikes off southern Alaskan coast, tsunami advisory no longer in effect

    Was it felt or cause any damage in Anchorage? Article doesn’t say.

    3DKungFu ,

    I was in Whittier when it happened and I’m in Anchorage now. Can confirm that nothing was felt. Just a brief tsunami warning.

    Kolanaki , in Insurance may not cover birth control drug Opill without prescription
    @Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

    Isn’t this drug supposed to be OTC? The first article I saw about it was about it being the first OTC medication of its kind.

    SheeEttin ,

    Yes. This and the headline are not mutually exclusive.
