Good. According to the Supreme Bigots, affirmative action is okay for the military because apparently diversity = better war. But the same doesn’t apply to the classroom? Hmm fishy. And it’s okay for the rich kid whose daddy went to a school, because how else are these schools with billion dollar endowments supposed to afford a new admin building?
Oh and we can’t forget the (un)related totally not hypocritical: religious freedom, but only for Christians. And bodily autonomy, but only for men.
No chance, he’s tainted goods. Maybe with the right social media spin, after a LONG time, he could come back.
Really sucks, loved his acting. Just watched American Beauty the other night and was able to see the actor and not the sins. But still, tell me Spacey is in a new movie, and guess what’s top of mind?
Meanwhile it’s summer in the UK and we’re off to a water park today and we’re taking full wetsuits because it’s so cold. July has been awful in the UK with so much rain.
13°C in Berlin right now, tops out at 20°C today, and it’s near August. I mean, I’ll take that any day over the scorching earth that other countries have, but it is weird.
that is just relatively normal? It only feels weird now, after the last 5 years being exceptionally scorching.
Usually there is a colder week or two in july followed by another heatwave in august. Last year that august wave brought 37°C and just twobweeks ago we were at 35°C.
Hell just outlaw datacaps and I’d say that’s a good step.
That being said I doubt almost anyone on here probably has more than those speeds, Cox (the worst cable company, trust me) gives me 10x those numbers, but the real problem is they’ll continue to raise the rates on us, and worse, there’s no competition. Verizon 5g came by and it’s not really a viable alternative, because Cox just out paces them enough, but ultimately, you’re going to spend at least 100 dollars a month on Cable, but still there’s no choices available.
Ignoring what I assume is some anti-trans bullshit, do you understand the difference between force and consent?
If I choose to eat a hotdog that’s nothing noteworthy, if someone forcefully shoves a hotdog down my throat it’s assault.
Do you know understand what a hysterectomy does to a body? It’s more than just lacking a uterus/no more baby making/no more periods. It’s a major surgery that can come with major complications, including sending a person into early menopause, which starts a loss of fucking bone density. Would you be so casual about someone doing that to you or someone you love without their prior knowledge or consent?
Sit down and think of your favorite woman, whoever she may be, then picture her tearfully telling you she was given a major surgery by the government, that she did not want, that took away her ability to have children and sent her into early menopause. Would you be okay with someone making a casual joke about that? Would that be funny to you? I hope not. I hope you’d be able to empathize with her heartbreak.
Oh wow! The DOJ actually going for it. Can someone enlighten me on wether it’s simply a procedural error because there was no approval or if a request for such a thing would be denied anyway?
I heard a radio report that the barrier is blocking navigation along the river. No idea if that’s actually the case or not, but if there is any sort of regular boat traffic (even just police boats etc) along there then that has the potential to be a big deal.
There are both international and national regulations pertaining to navigation, intended to ensure uniformity of those regulations no matter what body of water you’re on. The international regulations apply along coastal waters, while the US regulations apply to inland lakes, rivers, etc. I’m not sure which would apply here given the Rio Grande river is also an international border. But which one applies may have to do with whether the state/governor can legally overrule them in the name of “security”.
