That’s where they lost the right of it. It becomes a legitimate question why the hell they want to know so much.

Which is easier to read? Ileso could be confused for lleso I guess. Typesetter did their job right here.

    It isn’t even like this is reddit where you have to deal with whatever reddit gives you. Anyone can spin up their own instance and federate from whoever they want or defederate from whoever they want or keep whatever posts they want or delete whatever posts they want.

    The thing is, imo it’s about control of others. You can own and operate your instance however you want, but what people really want is to dictate what others get to see and do.

    It’s ok, Twitter. Once I’m done nuking my Reddit comments, I’m going after you :)

    I had a 13 years old account on Reddit and a 6 years old on Twitter.

    Both deleted overnight. Poof. Just like that. More than a decade of content, good or bad. Just gone.

    They thought we weren't serious, yet here we are.

    Now I feel like I'm on the top of a mountain, eating popcorn and watching the world around me implode and billionaires fighting each other for "power"

    Dude TweetDeck was so dope back in the day. Felt like a mission control center.

    I even had the desktop version, powered by Adobe AIR (yeah…)

    Tweetdeck was the only thing keeping me on twitter. I kept it in a pinned tab so I could check the news and stuff. I was already trying to get away from it, that is the push I needed.

    Tweetdeck is amazing for Twitter lists built for news. Destroying that would actually cause me to leave Twitter

    AlienStink ,

    Same here, once Tweetdeck is blocked that’s the end of twitter for me. I can’t use the official app… it’s as bad as the Reddit one ☹️

    Here is what to do, use a script to delete everything from the sub and then delete the sub. If thry dont care about you, dont let them take yoyr sub and contiue making money.

    phantomc137 ,

    i think they have backed up all the subs and accounts , illegally too

    sachasage ,

    Illegally?? I very much doubt that they have written their TOS such that backing up their own servers is criminal

    phantomc137 ,

    even after deleting everything every post they still have it on reddit then it’s b.s

    sachasage ,

    I do think the question of who owns community content is nuanced. I put this comment here, you might say that means I own it and should be able to withdraw it - but it also doesn’t mean much of anything by itself, it needs your content to make sense. So who owns the discourse we are having? Me or you? Or whoever runs the server it is stored on - who must have some legal right to reproduce our content in order to provide the community space? Or the community as a whole? The combined content on Reddit represents an incredibly valuable store of information and learning - who does that belong to? Who should get to benefit from it?

    Don't worry, there's plenty of batshit crazy women out there as well. In OPs post it could honestly be either gender.

    Why are you right away saying it’s a man? It could be a man, it could be a woman.

    r00ty Admin ,
    r00ty avatar

    I think the last few messages make it far more likely to be a man, until then I wasn't sure myself. But yes, this level of crazy is not limited to a single gender.

    In this case, it does warrant a police report. But, that's just my opinion.

    vaguerant ,
    @vaguerant@kbin.social avatar

    It's a bit self-serving of me to phrase it this way, but I do think the Reddit debacle shaved off a disproportionately not-terrible segment of the Reddit userbase. I think you could make your comment about Redditors instead and it would still be fair. There's obviously a lot of Twitter users we don't want here, but if we got the top 0.1% of Twitter users by quality? That's not bad.

    justlookingfordragon , (edited ) in Can we stop making posts to complain about new users complaining about reddit?
    @justlookingfordragon@lemmy.world avatar

    Keep perspective in mind: it might be the 247st post complaining about reddit that YOU read, as you’ve been here longer than the newbies. But for the newbie that just now arrived here it’s literally one of the first things they will post, they have NOT read the other posts yet and might not even know yet how to navigate the site properly to even find said posts. Just let them vent a bit, ok? It will get better on its own.

    Imagine if it was pouring outside and you want to meet with friends, you’re a bit late and soaked and p*ssed about the whole situation, but you finally make it and the first thing you say is; “Maaan, what a f[$%&] weather out there!” and then someone gets angry at you; “Yes we know FFS, the last eight people that arrived said the same!” …would you feel welcome then?
